Has anyone noticed there are certain days of the week that Air Canada is cheaper?

I looked at flights to Vancouver on Friday and they were 141 each way. By Saturday and Sunday the return was 192 and today it is 223.

I was going to book Friday but wanted to wait for my interview letter. Maybe I should have just booked.

What do you think? Wait for it to go lower or book now in case it gets higher?

It is for the same date....the price just changed for the exact same flight over the weekend. I am going to hope it goes down this week and then pounce on it.

Westjet is more expensive than AirCanada.

if Air Canada is anything like other airlines, a chunk of seats are set aside as really cheap fares (like your flight with the $141), some the next price level ($192), and so on ($223) and so on. The longer you wait, the more likely the really cheap fares are snapped up and you're left with the higher priced seats. Add in the double whammy of flying on Friday (Friday/Sat/Sun are always more expensive) and flying during the summer and boom, up go the prices. Oh, and rising fuel prices don't help either. :(

The farther ahead you can book, the more likely you'll have a chance at the cheaper rates. Also look at alternative routes (ie. two flights instead of direct, or going through another city).

Oh my friends at Air Canada :-)

I have forked over what seems to be my life savings to them since dave and I have been together.

They base their fares on 14-day advance purchase for the best ones, and god forbid you try to change them anywhere close to your flying date, they'll charge you your first-born.

Also, they base fare between the two end destinations, for example, I had a stop in Toronto going from Vancouver to Boston... Dave's grandfather passed away, so I figured I could just "extend" the layover in Toronto so I could go to the funeral (like most other airlines would let you do), unfortunately , air canada won't let you do such things.. .And it cost me $400 more to stay two days in Toronto.

They make me want to scream. :-)

Guess what now we are SOL...they claim not to have even received our claim forms sent three different times... My advise don't pack anything valuable... keep it with you!!

any airline is like that with fluctuating fares. When I was planning our trip to Scotland I checked all the airlines every other day and the fares kept changing, going up and down. Weekend fares are always higher than weekday fares. Its not just Air Canada.

If you book your flight before you've got your interview date and then if you have to change your flight, you could end up having to pay double for the change than what you'd pay if you just wait til you get your letter.

weve been using them for the 6 years weve been doing this. i cant wait till it ends!

anyway, booking 2 weeks helps. a month even more. booking from feb to july is terrible b/c airfare is higher (and has gotten REALLY bad this year, we can only afford once every 5-8 weeks lately!).

canjet is cheaper but has limited flights.

AC has weekly specials (im talking yyz to lga now) that come out on tues or wed, and american does the same. american tends to have better specials pricing, but you have to fly from fri-mon(or tues) which could be a prob for work schedules.

there are early morning flights, but airports are packed (again, yyz). ive been there as early as 5am for a 8am flight.

ahh, i miss the pre 9/11 days of getting there 20mins before the flight and just hopping on. we were both 20mins from the airports. :(
