I would like some advice from my fellow VJ users regarding Congressional assistance in our case. We have been waiting nearly a year to hear a decision from the CSC regarding our K-1 visa application. Since we are outside of the processing timeframe, I called the hotline, and a few weeks later they sent me a letter stating that "USCIS is currently awaiting the results of required security checks."

I then asked my U.S. Representative's office to intervene. They made an inquiry and received a response saying that it "is still under review by our background check unit" and "the congressional unit is prohibited in interfering with cases pending background checks". This was about a month ago.

I contacted one of my U.S. Senator's offices today and told them my situation. But the person I talked to said all they really can do is make a status inquiry.

So, my question is, should I even bother having my U.S. Senator's office do a status inquiry? Could there be any negative repercussions from making multiple status inquiries?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt there is anything negative that can happen ...besides perhaps more frustration on your part. :(

You are not the only one to be 'stuck' in limbo. Unfortunately, there's really not much that can be done when you're held up in security checks.

"Our" sara (estadia) has been waiting well over a year and has done everything that can be done to try to move her case forward.

good luck..and much patience...to you.

Thanks for the response. I was just worried that too many inquiries might upset the CSC people, but it will have been over a month since the last one, so I guess I'll see what happens.
