Hiya

Just read on another post that the USCIS 'count the number of people living in the house, add the number on the petition and use that as the headcount of people for whom they are responsible for calculating the 125%'

My SO has lived away from home for many years, but never formally moved his address away from his parents. Because he's always houseshared, it was easier to just keep their address as his. They see each other a couple of times a week, he housesits the pets when they go away etc, but to all intent and purpose he doesn't live there. At 30, he earns his own income, pays his share of the bills and rent with his housemates and doesn't contribute to his parents household.

However, he's not currently working as he just took 6 months out to stay with me over here, which means we don't yet know how much his annual income will be. Assuming he earns the 22,000usd required to sponsor my daughter and me, will they think that he is responsible for his parents too?! All his tax returns etc were filed out of 'their' address.

We have approached his mom as a potential co-sponsor, and had counted 4 as the number of people (her, her husband, my daughter and me) but the SO included would push her under 125%. Both she and her husband work, and I imagine file joint taxes. Will it be their joint incomes that are considered for the count?

Thanks,

Tish
