So right after I wrote this the mail came and you guessed it... the EAD arrived!!! I guess on Monday we'll go take care of the SS card name change and the State Id and the bank and everything.

Hi Everybody...

Why does USCIS even have a web-site? Okay here's our latest status (I'll update the sheet right after I post this)...

No Touch on the USCIS site since Dec 19th when they received our AOS/AP/EAD package and logged us into the system.

Received Biometrics letter around x-mass and had appointment on 1/13 NO TOUCH

Received Interview Appointment letter Feb 12 (appointment is April 22). NO TOUCH

Received APPROVED AP Feb 27 NO TOUCH

Okay now the questions for the group...

1) Why are there 2 copies of the AP? I assume that it get surrendered if you use it so they give you 2 to cover 2 trips.

2) Is there supposed to be a stamp in the National Benefits Center Parole Stamp box at the bottom next to picture?

Boy I sure hope that the EAD comes SOON because I need it to get her name changed on her Social Security Card and also to get her a State ID and to get her name on our bank accounts. After that I can get her name on the utility bill, cable bill etc to show we live together.

The one thing I'm the most concerned about though is that I'm now UNEMPLOYED!!!! I have been working for Ford Motor Co for the past 9 years and have been making over $90K but now the employment market SUCKS. I'm not going to through away my unemployment benefits by taking a job "just for the appearence" of having a job. Hell, she'll likely have a job at the local Thai restaurant b/4 the interview and b/4 I do!!!

The interviewer simply HAS TO UNDERSTAND how bad the employment market is now and that I might even relocate us away from Detorit (worst unemployment rate in the county) or change careers. It's not like I was a bagger at Walmart or something... You don't find a new $100K/year job overnight.

Hey maybe I should apply to the USCIS... looks like they need a web-master!!!!

Our Visa Journey

It kind of paid off the long wait for bio notice, lol. My EAD was actually approved on Feb. 12 but they just waited for my bio result before they ordered the processing of the card. Im pretty sure your EAD will come early too after doing the bio because it's almost been 90 days already since u filed for it.

EAD rec'd. March 6 (two days after AP was rec'd.); effective date of both was February 24. Can someone please update the spreadsheet for us? And, regarding the green card, have any transferees-to-CSC received their card yet, after filing for AOS in approximately mid-December?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi all!

I have noticed that alot of people getting EAD and AP approval recently have said that there have been no "touches" on their cases online, but the cards just show up one day......I am hoping this is the case for me.....but am a little worried, as we sent further evidence (from RFE) back to MSC over a month ago, and have had no notice that its has even been received! my mind is working over time, and telling me that our package got lost somewhere along the way, and we wont know till its too late.......(hubby was tired and accidentally sent it 3 day mail USPS, so no tracking number)

hoping lady luck is gonna throw some luck my way soon......its depressing being at the mercy of the gov.......

hope any other dec filers who are still waiting get lucky this month too!!!

Hey We-met-in-Japan,

I wouldn't worry at this point. We were asked to submit a RFE on 1/22 (email notification and website update that did not have specific details on what USCIS needed) which is the same day hubby had a biometrics appointment. The notice arrived a few days after on 1/28. I mailed the info requested that very day and did not hear back. Some have said that the website is updated to say that the "case has resumed" after USCIS received requested info. That did not happen for us. And then on Wednesday 3/4 hubby received his EAD with out any touches or notices.

By the way, the RFE can not be couriered. You have to use regular USPS mail because the address to send it back to at MSC is a P. O. Box. Trust me I read the paperwork over and over because I was thinking surely that must be a mistake. But that's the way they have it set up. So I am pretty sure they have yours and are getting ready to send your EAD.

Good luck and I hope this helps a little.

Kind regards,

PatNa.

First off congrats Soancika+Brian for getting your GC and to all the others who just got their EADs and APs.

I have a few questions I would like to get feedback on if anyone has any knowledge so here goes...

My wife has survived the first round of layoffs at her work in December, but now there are talks of budget cuts again and she has a bad feeling that she would be quite possibly one of the people laid off in her department. We haven't received an interview letter yet, but suppose she does get laid off and hasn't found a new job by the time we have our interview, what exactly would our options be? Would going to the interview with a new I-864 with a co-sponsor be enough? Or would the USCIS require her to hold her job at this point and not allow us to use a co-sponsor in our case? Just wanted to get prepared for the worst.

Ajay
