My husband is going to attempt a walk-in tomorrow. I posted about it in the forum...our letter gives an address for the USCIS office that we think is incorrect. There USED to be an office there, but now the building looks empty (it's right around the corner from our apartment, so it would have been really handy) and I had heard from another person who came here from Argentina that the office there closed in the last couple of years. USCIS lists our local office somewhere completely different...so Dennis is going to head to the new address and see if they'll let him do a walk-in, or at least verify that's where he should go on Friday for his scheduled appointment.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.

Yes that's the question, I really don't know if they do take walk-ins. I was walking by there yesterday as it is relatively close to my house and tried to get in and ask... but found out it was closed. I plan to go there Wednesday for a walk-in. If it doesn't work, I will go on the appointment day, Friday.

Mimigrant- Are you sure your office offers walk ins? I assumed mine would, but luckily before I drove all the way there, I found out they do not accept walk ins, only appointments. I think if you attempt a walk in, definitely do it before your scheduled appointment in case they turn you away for some reason.

wow, that's super weird, that they gave you an address of a closed office!

I don't think I saw your post about the walk-in... well, good luck and let us know how was it.

one more question: how did you find they don't take walk-ins without going there? there's never a phone contact... did someone mentioned your center in VJ?

Mimigrant- I was googling around for the Rhode Island ASC and I found it on another immigration website, someone had made a post about trying to do a walk in at the Rhode Island office and was turned away and was told they were strictly appointment only. I was not able to find anything on VJ about it, but I figured if someone just had this happen in September, it prob wouldn't have changed two months later. In the end it only took us a week to reschedule and get the new date, three days later from our original date, so not too much of a set back. Either way, attempting the walk in or rescheduling was taking a chance, so i guess we lucked out. :star:

Just got an email from CRIS that our AOS is now pending at the office to which it was transferred. Doesn't mean much, but it's another step out of the way.

My personal checks sent to USCIS have not cleared yet, so I checked online banking page all day today.

But I received all NOAs for my application today. NOAs are dated Dec.24 and noted USCIS received payments. So I think checks were deposited and pending for clearance at the bank.

My checks were finally cashed last night.

My husband just texted me. He decided to investigate the seemingly empty building right by our apartment...turns out it only LOOKS empty, the office is really there. He said there was no one there except staff and they did his biometrics right then. :)

my wife and I are having our wedding reception this weekend and are staying in a different city than the one we are currently living in. We had a friend check on our mail box to look for any DHS letters... there were four! We received all NOAs and our bio apt. letter! Sad news, though, I didn't want him to scour the letters looking for the numbers that will allow us to track online... :(

I'll have to wait until we return home to begin the obsession...
