Personally, I don't give much credence to the 'celibate' role of the priest notion anyway, because the whole thing plays into the 'original sin' and the inherent 'soiledness' of women, which is not a notion I can hold with at all. Priests have as much right to a sex life as anyone else. No one has a right to a sex life with a child, period!

I'm not aware of any connection between "Original sin" and "vows of celibacy".

Original sin seems to get hung around Adams neck more than women. I am not aware of any

Christian denom. placing any special burden about original sin on women.

Even the account of Eve in the garden seems to go rather easy ... considering she took the fruit first, then talked her husband into a taste.

At least that's how I recall the story.

As far as I know, a Vow of Celibacy (and other less famous steps) are taken by those who

wish to commit themselves "without any reservations" to Gods calling/service.

There are many rolls and offices within the Catholic church for those married.

Perhaps someone who is a Catholic can better comment.

You don't know a lot about the history of Christianity and the Catholic church it would seem - perhaps you should do some research.

Since you seem to know much more about the topic... why not correct my misinformation rather than just do a Drive-by on me?

She's too smart to give you any answers on any subject. Typical of posters who demand much and offer so little in return beyond the usual slogans.

Demand? I demand nothing. Everyone has a choice about how much, or how little they wish to educate themselves through out life.

Gay marriages wasn't even an issue until Bush brought it up a couple of years ago to get our minds off of Iraq, now it's an issue. Let's talk about Iraq instead.

Are you serious?

This "Bush" fixation is something to behold.

Lets take a walk down memory lane shall we?

The first real movement in the Gay marriage issue was when the Supreme Court Of Hawaii raised the Question. (Ever notice it's always judges pulling this #######?)

This happened in 1993, and Bush was clearly not involved.

The People of Hawaii revolted at the possibility of ** marriage and passed a State amendment to their constitution

defining Marriage. (passed by like 70% I think)

Other States started to get concerned and started doing the same thing, About 1995-96 PRESIDENT CLINTON signed the "defense of marriage act" to prevent the federal Govt' from recognizing any marriage except as one between 1 man and 1 woman no matter what any state may approve of. (among other things)

After Bush was in office the Mass. Supreme Court took the matter in their hands and granted ** Marriage legal (More Judges acting in our best interest).

Again Bush had nothing to do with this.

And while Bush did mention being in "The defense of marriage" in speeches, I am not aware of him actually doing anything.

I thought everyone knew that you can't be a judge unless you are using a ####### pump or a vibrator in court.

What's weird is that I come from a family of lawyers. (The other half are doctors. I think I'm condemned to hell.) So I know more than a few judges. Obviously, no Supreme Court Judges on either a state or federal level. But yeah. People have flaws.

People have flaws? Of course they do, but yes, I do know more than a few judges and by and large they take their responsibilities seriously and impart judgement without emotional involvement.
