Oh, and I didn't eat much for American Thanksgiving. We were at my inlaws in NC and I don't really like southern-style cooking.

Blasphemy!!!!!!

P.S. Yessssssss I cannot believe the cost of living in Lake Mary. For $1,000 a month in Sudbury you can get a big 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom. Here it is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom shoebox

LoL, that will get you a 1 bedroom apartment here in Los Angeles

Krikit, what's on a Southern thanksgiving menu at the inlaws house?

Lots of bread products. Corn bread, corn casserole (a bread product which has corn kernels added to it) a bunch of deep-fried bread things that I can't recall the names of, bun bread, and bread stuffing casserole. Then there's a bunch of sugar products. Sweet potatoes baked in syrup. Ham baked in syrup. Some other unidentifiable stuff baked in syrup. Desserts consist of stuff made with edible oil product..... otherwise known as Cool Whip. I had a slice of overcooked dried out turkey. I always lose weight at the inlaws. Plus I have a very understanding husband who will sneak me out for something to eat because he notices I just drink a lot of water at their house.

I'm from Southern Ontario. (Think Toronto and surrounding area.) I was thinking what a bargain that was. You can't even get a basement apartment for 1k/month. When I read the price you're paying, Trailmix, I thought "Wow. That lady must have lowered her prices just so she could get someone in during these economically hard times."

And.... okay. I have gained a TON of weight since I moved here! I am so sad. :(

Bigger cities always have higher cost of living for the most part. For Trailmix and I, we are suppose to be living in a 'small town'. That's why I think its a bit steep.

Living in Waterloo or Toronto I expect to pay 1k for something a bit smaller.

Im just bitching because im hungry, ignore me =)

It's funny because I see Lake Mary and think bigger city.

It is!

Yeah, prices in Calgary are much higher for housing, this house would probably cost us $1500 a month in a not-very-nice-neighbourhood

But then the price to buy a house in Calgary is double (at least) what it is here.

I think 'big neighbourhood' when describing Lake Mary more then 'Big City'.

I mean sure Lake Mary boulevard is crowded, but it has its relaxed areas too...
