We have been here before, but are still confused! When we got the receipt for the IV fee and the DS-230 with the instructions, it was unclear if we needed to send the documents to the NVC. China(GUZ) is different than most other Consulates, and the GUZ website says we should bring these documents to the Medical in GUZ, but the NVC instructions say to send them in with the DS-230. It also says we should check the GUZ specific instructions. We have not received the paper instructions, so we are not sure if they will be different. By the way my wife is here with me in the USA, on a K-3, so obtaining the Police report was difficult, but it is on the way here.

There is a current thread on CFL that says to take the documents to the Medical Exam, which conflicts with the advice we got earlier! The Shortcuts on wiki are not for GUZ either,Your help will be greatly appreciated, thank you, Mike & Yizhen

If you go back to the online payment system it will provide links to the instructions for the documents. You need to go ahead and send all documents to the NVC with a cover sheet that has a barcode. You can print this cover sheet throught the payment website. There will be a button at the bottom of the page that says Print Cover Sheet. You should not need the police report and documents for the medical exam. Also, online you can lookup the special instructions for your consulate so you can supply any other special documents for China. Good Luck!

November 18, 2008 - DS-3032 overnighted to NVC

November 22, 2008 - IIN received in mail; Paid AOS & IV Fee Bills online

November 25, 2008 - AOS & IV Fee Bills rejected; Paid Fees again online (now pending)

November 26, 2008 - AOS & DS-230 packets overnighted to NVC (payments show as paid)

December 16, 2008 - K-3 Visa Interview (now cancelled)

December 2, 2008 - Case complete @ NVC; waiting for interview date to be set

January 16, 2008 - CR-1 Visa Interview

With the new online payment system, most people get the standard instructions online. If I send original documents and they are not needed, they will be discarded. Many people only see these instructions! Today, I received a copy of the instructions that were enclosed with the DS-230, sent to someone who interviewed in GUZ on NOV. 10th, 2008. The instructions say to bring the documents to the medical exam in China, "DO NOT SEND WITH THE DS-230 TO THE NVC". I hope to clear this confusion up soon, any input will be appreciated.
