Generally speaking, its not generally considered acceptable (anywhere) to hold a person's family to account for the crimes of their relatives.

Of course - when people were shaking their heads with disgust at Iraqi mobs beating foreign aid workers to death and stringing up the charred remains from a bridge - I guess what's being suggested here is that its perfectly ok to do such things if the people you do it to really deserve it.

I find it rather suspect to believe that people pursuing extremist ideologies (who have already found numerous ways of twisting a religion to their own purposes) would be stumped by a technicality about what might be done to their body after death.
