i will go to my oath tomorrow. does anybody know how to apply u.s.pastport. i know i can apply in the post office. which form do i need to fill out, and what doc. do i need? please give me some detail info.

I have a question, what should i do now, should i update my ssn and dl first, or should i get my passport first.

Well, I was told that the first thing is to go to the SS office because that database is used by all the other agencies... I'll do that tomorrow... then I'm headed to the post office to apply for my passport.... also I am going to send the information for registering to vote ( in GA you only need a copy of your DL, I do not know about AL laws regarding that)... good luck chinababe... question did you hear anything about the system being down the day before??

yes, i heard about it, that's way i had wait for so long for the oath. i got there at 1pm, but the oath didn't start until 2:30. We had about 180 people from 53 countries today, because they couldn't do the oath yesterday, so they have to do a big one today. it is a long wait, but the oath is kind of short, no U.S. national song, no president's welcome message. i got the certificate, that's all the matter to me.

Yes, I took mine the same day... I was one of the very few lucky ones that got their certificate that day.... my mom was re-scheduled for the 13th of May..... I went this morning to the SS office and they gave a letter for the change because their system is not updated yet... did the passport as well... if you got any questions about it, let me know!!

100% on all his questions.

i went to the SS office this morning, and the lady gave me a piece of paper has the reference number on it.

the lady also said that they have to contace the homeland to verifies the authenticity of my documents,

and the ssn card will be mail to me in 2-3 weeks. and they took my old ssn card. after that, i want to usps did my passport,

it's almost $200 for the 2-3 weeks. i also gave them my certificate. i just got it yesterday, now it's gone again.

i have a question, sinece i don't have either certificate or the ssn, can i still go update my DL, or do i have to wait until i got my passport?

Hello everyone, update on my case.

I went for an Infopass yesterday. The IO there try to tell the same thing "go and wait", of course I did not take that an answer. I insisted that she explaining to me what was holding my application since everyone keeping saying everything is fine and I am not receiving my interview letter.

Then she printed the information she had on her screen, and we started going through them line by line.

She was very surprise when there was no fingerprint, I told her that I was told my last year fingerprint was still good.

She replied that, the only thing about FP in my file was a request for FP back in January 22nd and they never sent me an actual FP notice.

She then asked me if I would like to do FP on May 14th, because that was the earliest date she had. I agreed (like I had any other choice? , plus even if FP is valid for 15 months, the one I did in February 2008, will expire in few days).

I was so upset, i told her that I called the 800# so many times (about the FP, and lack of progress), and all the told me was everything fine, I should not worry. She told me that "the 800# is just a calling center" and they didnot have access to real info...

Now my question is why are they there?

She told me I should be receiving a biometric NOA in few days, but even if I don't receive it to just go in with my green card and my application receipt, that she has me already in the system.

After I left the Immigration office, I said to myself, ok if I am in the system why not go and do my FP today?

Then, i went to ASC, after some back and forth, they were able to print out a sheet with all my infos, so I did the FP.

At this point, I am wondering whether I should try to contact my senators or wait a bit? Any suggestions?

I will definitely contact me senator, house and the Ombudsman. What ever you do, do not trust what USCIS told you.

Well regarding the SS I had the same experience... but on the passport I paid regular service which is 4-6 weeks and for passport book and card was $120 all included. Second, on your DL I do not think you can update without neither your SS or your Passport or Nat Cert... I believe if you take the SS card alone is not enough... at least in GA is not... I am not sure about AL... good luck on your other paperwork, like voting etc.... here in Ga is fairly easy just a download and mail evidence for it....

I think it is obvious they made a mistake... so, you should not be liable for it... even more so when you have been on top of things for the whole process. Plus, I do not think it will hurt your chances on getting it sooner...my mom had her fingerprints taken 3 times because every time she went there the person did them wrong... we called and complain and she got the letter like 3 weeks later. Also, if I can recall right you had called USCIS, and they told you were on "queue" since Feb 25th or something like that. Again I think you should definitely write a letter.
