It's in the morning. I have to call the court and confirm. My invitation letter states two hours earlier than the time listed online. I guess I'm supposed to be there early to do some paperwork... Just want to make sure what time the actual ceremony is because I would like my family to be there. But I don't want my kids to sit around for two hours and be bored.

We got a room at the Hampton Inn right on San Francisco Bay in Oakland for the 4th of May. Too long of drive for just one day (400 miles). Mariya works for Hampton Inns so we got the room for $31. Our ceremony is at 9:15 on the fifth of May in the Paramount Theater.

Congrats to everyone on their oath dates. Just think we will be all done with USCIS. What will we do to fill the void. PARTY?

All done!!! My oath ceremony went very smoothly this afternoon. 31 new citizens were welcomed from 23 different countries. It was a reasonably small court room but there was plenty of space for my wife and three friends. Two federal judges and a magistrate presided over the ceremony and a local mayor gave the congratulatory speech. We each stood to introduce ourselves and then said the oath as a group. Nothing was printed so we had to recite the oath after one of the judges in a similar manner to saying your vows at a wedding. Then were several small speeches by various organizations (voters registration, civil rights, fair housing, social security etc.). We concluded by saying the pledge of allegiance, singing 'God Bless America' (with no music... the judges tried to sing lead!) and then we left as we were handed our certificate by the judges.

My wife and I then returned to my office a couple of blocks away to copy my certificate before going to the post office to mail my passport application.... however, on arriving back at my office they had arranged a surprise celebration party. It has been great to have the support of my colleagues! Thank you everyone!!

Wow, what a deal! I live pretty close to bart in san francisco, so i'll just be barting over. Maybe, we'll see each other there!
