Actually, I attended the oath ceremony and got my Naturalization Certificate on March 16. I typed a wrong date in last post and I was too lazy to make correction. Now I can do it after I do have this Certificate in hand.

Congratulations.

So it wasn't a problem that you took the oath before your three-year-anniversary? I think that's always important information for other applicants.

@ all

Thank you for your well wishes!

I just reread my posting. Actually I was asked the questions first and had to write the sentences afterwards. Everything happened really fast and I was nervous, so I'm not sure if I remember all the questions correctly. But I think they were: The House of Representatives has how many voting members? Name one war fought by the United States in the 1900s. Who was the first President? We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years? What is the highest court in the United States? What does the judicial branch do? As I said, I'm not sure if those were the exact questions, I've been reading them so often by now that they all sound soooo familiar. The sentence I had to read was "Who was George Washington?" and I had to write the answer "He was our first President." The officer had papers with the questions and sentences on them and made checkmarks as we went along. Afterwards those papers went with my file, I believe. Oh, since I filed after 1 October 2008 I had to take the new naturalization test and wasn't given a choice between the old and new test.

@ sambs

Have a save drive, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Thanks, Stella. As I was reading the questions, I thought, those come from the new test. Jeez, seems I am the only one left to be interviewed from the applicants before Oct 1, 2008. Anyways, I am reviewing both tests just in case the Officer wont give me a choice. You'll never know when a USCIS officer is having a bad day, hahah

No, it just stated for unforeseen. Tampa Office is the worst ever. I jus could not get it, downtown Tampa is the only city in US that does not have McDonalds or any fast food restaurant but still they pretend there are busy. No body live here man, you could easily drive 70 m/h locally.

I am so sorry to see this happening. One question though, can you make an appointment with your office and put a complaint? because this is obviously their fault... or can they give you an alternate location for your interview a nearby town or something??

There are many reasons the case could be delayed, till you know what is going on you have no choices/options

Hey guys! It's been a while since I posted. Well, I did my interview at the Phoenix office yesterday and it went pretty well. There was a long line of people interviewing and it took me a 45 mins wait time before I was called by the IO.

Here were a few questions:

1. Name one war fought by the US in the 1800s.

2.Name one war fought by the US in the 1900s.

3. The house of representatives has how many voting members.

4. We elect a US representative for how many years.

5.What month do we vote for the President.

6. Name one American Indian tribe in the US.

Then he showed me a paper and told me to read "Who was the first president of the United States?" and he let me write the answer "Washington was the first president".

So he told me that was the hard part and after that he just clarified some information on my application and had me sign some papers. All I have to do is wait for my oath taking letter yeay!... Generally, I thought the whole experience was really good plus the IO was really nice :)

Good luck to all of those awaiting their interviews!

I passed my interview!!! Unfortunately I didn't get to do a same day oath, but I had expected that it would be too late in the day anyways.

My appointment was at 2:20 p.m. in Fairfax. We got real early to Fairfax and had a delicious lunch at the "Uno Chicago Grill". After that we had lots of time left since it stated on the invitation I shouldn't be there any earlier than 30 minutes before the scheduled time because of limited seating capacities. So we ran some errands and got to the USCIS office just before 2 p.m. Parking is behind the building in a parking garage, it costs $5 for all day. When we went into the building our bags were screened and we had to go through metal detectors (I had a camera and cell phone in there), but nobody checked our actual appointment time. So I guess we could have showed up a little early. The lady at the reception upstairs was real nice and there were lots of people waiting. But there are also a lot of IOs working there, so people got called up all the time. Around 2:45 my name was called, my husband was not allowed to accompany me. The officer made me swear to tell the truth and then the interview started. He wanted to see my passport, driver's license and greencard, that was it. I didn't need any of the other documents I had brought along. First question he asked me (which surprised me), was, if I had my German "Beibehaltungsgenehmigung" (it's a permission to acquire another citizenship without losing the German citizenship) and if it was still valid. Then he went we me over my application and some things on his computer. Then he had me read a short sentence and write the answer and he asked 6 questions. That was it, I was approved! I signed all the forms and my passport pictures. I asked several times if I should write my full first, middle and last name instead of full first, middle initial and full last name. But he said I should use the same signature I use all the time (e.g. on checks). So that's what I did. I didn't get sworn in the same day but I will have my oath ceremony where I live (they have ceremonies every other month). The officer was very nice and it was a real pleasant experience. I should be relieved but somehow I just want to get sworn in and be an American. Hopefully soon.

Good luck to everyone else!

Hi Stella,

First of all, congratulations on the interview! I filed my N400 last month (after receiving the BBG) and am waiting for the IL right now.

Do you know what prompted the question about the Beibehaltungsgenehmigung? What was his reaction? I thought they normally would not ask, and we don't volunteer that we have it. Were there any follow-up questions regarding reasons for the BBG or how serious you are about the citizenship oath's requirement to renounce allegiance to other countries?
