Links between Islam and Terrorism

Maybe I've missed something, but why should the thread be locked? Does every thread where there is a certain amount of disagreement need to be halted and locked down?

The original topic was regarding Islam and terrorism and people linking the two. As far as I know people do not typically link terrorism with any other mainstream religion.

Then it went off on some tangential discussions as well, as often happens on message boards.

I think everyone just needs to chill.

I just hate the arguing and being told that I have an owner BUT it does give me good ideas for tonight! I just have to dig out my igor outfit and lookup my Barry White cd's.

I was doing property management for a friend of mine ( woman) and I walked into the house doing an inspection and I heard the shower running ( no cars outside) and caught her estranged husband having sex with another man in her shower.. correction. a group of traitors who happened to be jewish were killed for taking part in treason that led to the deaths of many muslims, and put hundreds more in danger of being killed.

That's why I get nervous when people read different things and don't know the history behind it. They can read something in the Quran and think that it's the religion allowing something bad. But it's not the case, there is a story behind it and a reason behind it and Allah knows best.

wahrania are you serious? I thought you were muslim........ According to all that I have read and been told Islam was always first starting with Adam. Islam is sooo not based on the Judaic faith.

Muslim belief: We did not derive our religion from the Jewish faith. All prophets were Muslim according to our religion. That is including Abraham, the "father" of all 3 religions.

It's a basic core belief in Islam that the first prophets were muslim. Sure the Quran was established in the 600's but that doesn't mean that the people weren't practicing long before that.

Anyway my point isn't to get into a religion debate, just that it was odd for wahrania to bring up something that Jewish scholars have stated where she herself is muslim. Obviously Jewish scholars are going to favor their religion and Christian scholars will favor their religion. I just think that once you actually state that you are of X-religion you should follow that particular religion's scholarly advice rather than confusing yourself. Just my two cents.

This thread was NOT about debating religion. It was about talking about religion at family reunions and the workplace and defending it.

If we could get back to topic about talking about religion with other people, it makes sense to keep the thread open..

I believe we are very blessed because I never have to defend my choice of religion to anyone. Nor do we discuss these types of topics at dinner or family functions. Typically our dinners and functions are surrounded with fun times and catching up. We are a mixed family of. Jews, Muslims and Christians and we all agree on two things, we love God and each other. We hold a mean Easter Egg hunt, EID celebration and Hannukah parties.
