Concerned and Confused my finance and I have only received a first notice that our application has been received and based on the timeline for I-129f applications it indicates an estimate of 6 months which will be our 6 month anniversary next week? I am a USA citizen and I did and submitted all the paperwork necessary for my fiance whom lives in Cali Colombia. I am concerned that at this rate we may not ge another notice till mid of next year?

I am curious if I had submied my paperwork through an attorney if my case would have been expedited any faster as I am planning on contacting an attorney to obtain some advice if they can contact the INS office and push this a bit more or provide an update? anyone experience anything similar for their COlombian Fiance?

Timeline

If you do an extensive Timeline search here on VJ, you'll see that most people who filed at around the same time you did have not been approved either. Just make sure you put in the correct dates and service center to get the correct results.

A lawyer does not have any power on how fast or slow a petition may be approved. They can only do the same as you did, gather all paperwork, send it and sit and wait.

Well, I just got off the phone with INS to inquire of my case as it has gone beyond the 6 months but I was told that the 6 months is an estimate and that I need to wait for an additional 60 days before calling and inquiring about my case? SO until another 60 days pass by they cannot open a case to inquire what is the hold up on my case. I am afraid we are left to wait for a couple of more months. :-(

Thank You all for your replies.
