They are not going to give you the EAD stamp but they have a really nice airport. They knocked down the 2 old airports and replaced them. One was completely redid in 2002 and the other just opened up brand new last month. Usually relatively quiet if you are landing after 8pm, should be smooth, low harassment, and about as good a POE as any.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Crummy airport but immigration matters are handled quite professionally.

The immigration thing sounds great!

I'm sad no EAD stamp.... Thanks for the prompt and informative reply.

The only problem my husband had was the officer in his line walked away right as he got to the front :( Other than that, quick and easy, no 2nd processing or anything. Once he got to the officer, it was only a few minutes. Plus coming into Detroit there is only one exit for international flights, so it's very easy to find each other. When I picked my husband up when he visited in Chicago I missed him coming out and we couldn't find each other for a while.

And Old Dominion, Mcnamera terminal is super nice! The Smith and Berry are #######, but not the international terminal. They have a very pretty water fountain!

Where's home for you? We're in Toledo.

And Old Dominion, Mcnamera terminal is super nice! The Smith and Berry are #######, but not the international terminal. They have a very pretty water fountain!

The Smith and Berry terminals were really crummy, but they are long gone now. Detroit just finished and opened up the North Terminal in September, which replaced the outdated Smith/Berry terminals:

"The building has 50,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, more than double the 24,000 square feet in the Smith and Berry terminals combined. The upper level offers 14 retail outlets and 15 food and beverage facilities, including two "multi-concept" food courts featuring a Hockeytown Cafe, Cheeburger Cheeburger and other specialty restaurants. A Coffee Beanery will be located on the baggage claim level."

The $1.2-billion, 97-gate McNamara Terminal opened in February 2002. It is really nice, here is the water fountain msu17 was referring to:
