Hi. I came to the US about 10 years ago on K1 and lifted conditions 6 years ago in 2000, I applied for citizenship two seperate times. First time we applied 2 months too soon and at the interview after giving test the officer said she couldnt approve because i was 2 months shy of the required timeframe. The second time I applied it took very long and meanwhile our marriage was going rough (LONG STORY) and I wont lie I knew this before applying for citizenship the second time. but I still applied and didnt hear anything from USCIS. Meanwhile he (ex-husband) ended up divorcing me before I ever got the interview for citizenship. I got the interview letter shortly after the divorce finalized and went to the interview and informed the officer before she evan began the process that I was no longer married to a US citizen and didnt want to waste her time. She took copy of my divorce decree I had brought with me and obviously denied my citizenship. She did tell me that I could apply in a year on my own since I would then be permanent resident for 5 years.

my questions is that do you think this time the interviewing officer will get suspecious of why this is my 3rd time applying for citizenship? or will this cause any other problems such as can the officer deny me based on lack of good moral character since I had applied for citizenship and didn't withdraw the application right away after my divorce from my ex-husband?

to tell you the truth I had thought about withdrawing my application because my ex-husband had told me that it was illegal for me to try to obtain "expedited" citizenship based on my marriage to him that had now ended. He had suggested that I withdraw my application but call it my stupidity I thought that maybe if I talk to the officer at the time of interview that perhaps he/she would somehow grant me citizenship (I know very stupid).

i am just worried.

From what you have said you have been honest with USCIS, I see no problem.

I agree with boiler. I can see no reason why you would be denied. Go for it!!

I agree with Boiler and gag. You've done all the right things (except applying early, but that's an honest enough mistake) and will be a real pro now that it's your third time going over the form! :)

Good luck & you'll be happy to know that most citizenship cases are being processed inside of 6 months now.

Thankyou very much. This makes me feel better. I have printed off the application and will start filling it out today.

I wish I knew about this website a long time ago. A dear friend of mine recently told me about it. After reading through the guides and other forums I can see why he is always singing praises about it. Very informative. Even better than a lawyer I paid $205/hr to.
