This was in an earlier post....................I noticed my fiance' was given an A# on our NOA1.......is that normal?

Has that happened to anyone else? Just curious

Every beneficiary who has a petition filed for at USCIS receives an Alien Registration number. They might not print them on every notices but everyone receives one.

I was reviewing my NOA2 too in preparation for filing the AOS application and noticed that they had given me(petitioner) an A# as well. I'm glad I noticed that because they ask for my A# on the I-485 and I-864 forms and I wasn't aware I had one before.

If they didn't give you one, I wouldn't worry about it. You would just list "None" in that section on the forms. I think your fiancee's A# is more important.

That's interesting because my NOA2 had an A# for me in the "Petitioner" section. Now, I am a naturalized citizen so I don't know if this was a A# I already had or if one was newly assigned to me as part of the K-1 visa process. In any event, I included that number on my AOS forms where it was asked. I'm assuming that won't cause any problems with my application.

Vamsi,

As a naturalized citizen you would have an A#. (Perhaps more than 1 from your past dealings with the immigration services.)

And it would be appropriate for you to provide that number where it's asked for. But a citizen by birth would be unlikely to have an A# - it might even be impossible, I don't know why or how they might get one.
