I received answers to my questions about this Document Verification Fee yesterday and come to find out this fee has been suspended since back in October 2008. I believe it would be in good taste and would save a lot of unnecessary searching about this topic if the USEM would simple issue/post a statement on their Website that this FEE has been suspended until further notice or something. If there is, I havent found it and obviously other VJ members as well because questions are still being asked. THANKS to VJ members because thats were I got my answers from.

It is no longer listed in the site. But some outdated pages in the site still state the DV. Honestly, we suspect that the DV waiver is only temporary as we are a high fraud country. Hence, there is a real need for document verication of civil records. And anecdotal evidence from USEM personnel indicate that this is only a stop gap measure to catch up in the backlog of cases.

I suspect that this is only temporary as well. Im all for security checks when it comes to legallized documents. We just need to be more informed from the horses mouth as the saying goes. Meaning this needs to be posted on the official site that DV has been suspended. Yes, some of the pages within the site may have been removed, but I dont know that because I stumbled across it recently. I can only go by what Ive read that is still there. Thanks for the insite.

THERE MAY BE A NEED FOR DOCUMENT VERIFICATION, HOWEVER MABE IT COULD BE DONE IN A WAY THAT WILL NOT DELAY THE VISA ISSUANCE. OUR VISA WAS DELAYED ALMOST THREE MONTHS.

FOR THE ONES THAT CHOSE THE CR1 ROUTE THIS MAKES THE PROSCESS ABOUT SIXTEEN MONTHS. THERE IS NO REASON THAT THE EMBASSY SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR TWO MONTHS BEFORE SUBMITTAL OF DV REQUEST. WE PAID FOR DV JUNE SIX, INTERVIEW WAS AUGUST SIX. THEN WE HAD TO WAIT ALMOST THREE MONTHS FOR THE VISA. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF AN OLD BROKEN IMMIGRATION SYSTEM THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.............

Had to wait almost three months also. Just got my visa yesterday and I was interviewed last September. In fairness to the US Embassy in Manila (Note, I am not American.), it realized its mistake and waived the DV process and is working overtime to catch up with the 6,000 backlogged cases. And though we might have suffered the long wait, be glad that you already have your visa and that USEM had come to its senses thereby easing the wait times of current and future applicants. :)

Jose, I figured that out with our first conversation that you are not American. Please understand we VJers are not bashing the Philippines in any way. If you think the Immigration system is broken there, just be glad you're not here in the US. I think its worse here meaning all the hoops we have to jump thru dealing with the USCIS. Everything is a power trip here. People that hold these positions need a reality check. They are PUBLIC SERVANTS and nothing else.

Mike:

No problemo!

But I guess, these things happen in any bureaucary whether it's in the Philippines, US, or any other country as a matter of fact. Red tape will always be an issue anywhere and it's really it's a bummer.:help:

ALWAYS REMEMBER, THAT'S WHAT GOVERNMENTS ARE FOR!!!
