Hi all!

I'm totally new to all this, I just looked at the guides, read a couple of threads and it all looks quite confusing to me  Honestly, I though it would be much easier.

I'd really appreciate some pointers.

Here's the story.

I met this girl about a year ago, in June she came to the States and we spent the whole summer together. Now she's back to Norway - she's a college student over there. Needless to say, we spend, like, 3- 4 hrs a day, talking via Skype.

She's coming to the States this December for the Holiday Season. I thought we can get married while she's here, have a very modest ceremony, file for a Green Card and then she'd go back to Norway to finish college and after the graduation next June, she'd be back here

Now I'm reading something about all those K visas, long waits, interviews and I wonder - is it really necessary?! Or is it only for someone who can't get an entry visa any other way? Does she need a K-1 visa, if she already has a tourist visa? Can we just get married?

Thank you in advance, guys!

PS - I just read the FAQ's section and I saw something about Direct Consular Filing. Maybe, that's the route we should take?

For one if she comes to the US with plans and intentions of marrying you and does so. She cannot ajust status and get a GC.

You have to live in the country she lives in for 6+ months to do DCF.

OK, DCF is not for us.

If we get married while she's here, she has to go back and we have to apply for K-3, which, as I understand, takes longer than K-1

So, looks like K-1 is the only solution?

K3s have same time frame as K1s. CR-1 take a little longer but MUCH MUCH better than K visas.

Yes. In your case I think K 1 is the safest solution.

She cannot get married with a tourist visa. It is considered as a fraud.

A K-1 is probably the fastest solution. If you go ahead and start filing for the K-1 now or in the near future, she will most likely have approval by the time graduation rolls around.

It's perfectly fine for you guys to get married while she's here, as long as she doesn't intend to stay. Then you can file a petition for a K-3, and she can go home and wait. If you don't want to marry now, you can file for a K-1.
