You go through customs first. Please expect a long delay. Even without a line it takes an hour to get out of customs alone. Then she will get her baggage their, then she has to give it to employees again so it can go to the main baggage claim area. After that she has to go to the underground transportation center where it will take her to baggage claim. I know with all my trips this whole process takes AT LEAST an hour prior to making it to the main baggage area.

I hope this helps...and CONGRATULATIONS...I truly wish it was me!!!!

Our "VisaJourney" ended on July 31st, when my husband became a US Citizen!!! Congratulations and Good Luck to all!!!

I live in Atlanta. I love the airport, but when my husband flew in from Egypt then Germany to Atl, I waited for him for 3 hours at the airport to get thru customs. I was not happy about that... but what can you do ? It is what it is. I will ask him when he wakes up what exactly he did first though.

my husband and I just came through Atlanta on Tuesday. I am assuming because of the fact that I was there (the US citizen) that that helped us (little questioning) and we were in and out of immigration in 30 minutes. One hour from getting off the plane we were being greeted by my family and waiting for our luggage to come back up to the upstairs baggage claim. (In Atlanta you pick up all of the luggage, go through customs and then immigration, drop off luggage for it to be sent upstairs to baggage claim, you go through security, take the airport train to baggage claim, meet family, pick up luggage and you are out the door.) good luck!
