What you mean, you can goto a web search engine like google and just type in "upack" Thats just crazy!! lol Next you know women will be able to vote!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Upack update! Cube was delivered today at about 3 p.m. with only one minor snag. The terminal forgot to give the driver the key to the ABF padlock but no worries. Instead of having him go get it and come back, the dispatcher actually drove over right away to save me time. It was unlocked within 30 mins.

Husband and his brother are unloading it right now and I'm shocked that nothing is broken. Not even 2 framed photos that are 3 feet by 4 feet!

They pick up the cube on Monday. :)

I'm very impressed by their customer service from everyone I've dealt with and I highly recommend them!

Awesome, misa! Glad you got your stuff a-okay!

I won't hold that minor snag against them considering they rectified the situation to your satisfaction.

I'm still hoping we can use them since their storage capabilities will also suite our needs.

Hi there...

Just wanted to get my 2 cents in...lol. I really honestly feel that professional moving companies know more about crossing the border with household effects than a freight company eg. ABF/Yellow and oh so many more. I really didn't know they were even allowed to carry them. I drove a commercial transport truck for 3 years and we were only allowed to carry commercial freight....no personal goods...ever. As for a customs broker.....I was a Canadian customs broker for 15 years and we were not allowed to touch personal effects...that was up to the individual. I realize that the USA regulations are different. But I truly do believe in using a professional moving company to move personal effects.

I just hope everyone will check out everything 100% before trusting their personal goods to someone.

I honestly don't know everything about moving....or clearing goods through US Customs....

I'm lucky just because when moving day comes for me...we live on the border in the middle of nowhere. Heck we could probably use one of the grain trucks to move stuff.....

Good luck with your moves...everyone.... and I hope there are no problems for any of you!!!!! (F)

I think their "U-Pack" division is their professional personal goods moving subsidiary. They're fairly knowledgeable about both U.S. and Canadian customs. I agree though that people should research all their options. I will say that going from Canada to U.S., ABF U-Pack was the best decision for me and I had a great experience with them. Despite me being a lousy packer with several very fragile things in my cube, nothing was broken in the transport! :)
