Why so violent people, it's just stuff. Like someone else said; consumerism at it's best I guess.

Yep, exactly. It's just stuff. We're tight on money this year since P hasn't started work yet, but even so, I don't need ANYTHING badly enough to stand in line or shop at 5 am. It's ridiculous. I take the path of least resistance when it comes to Christmas gifting: a family show, the Nutcracker, and then each kid gets a stocking and I'm making blankets and scarves. No one should ever have to DIE because of sales.

My prayers to the family.

Wow. It's insane. I just hope Obama can do something about these kinds of things when he's president.

Oh dear lord. Are you going to do this in EVERY thread?

Savages indeed. I lived in savage Nassau county for a month and quickly moved to Suffolk county.

I'm not even sure those people feel bad about it. They probably think "Well, I wasn't pushing, the guy behind me was pushing..."

They've been another crazy incident at Toys R Us too. Two guys shot each other because they wanted the same last toy.

News reports indicate the ToysRUs shooting was unrelated to shopping.

As for the WalMart mob, I wonder if any of you have ever been in a big crowd and been pushed by the people behind you? I have. It's a very scary feeling.

Not condoning what happened because they say some of the crowd were pushing on the doors and were even trying to take them off the hinges. But I'm sure there were MANY people who were pushed.

What a bunch of mindless scum!! Jeez, is Long Island home to the absolute dregs of humanity, that would trample a man to death just to save $10 ? This really should not be treated as an accident, and as someone mentioned previously, the security cameras should be examined and all the people who stepped on the deceased should be rounded up.

I was wondering yesterday how many people die every year at Black Friday stampedes? This isnt the first time its happened, its every freakin' year.

I just don't get it. They're all out there to start their Christmas shopping and get the best deals, and yet they are acting anything but Christian IMO. I don't recall any stories about the 3 wisemen trampling other mages to get at the incense and myrrh :P

Happy f*cking holidays

I see it every year from first hand experience people pushing and shoving and fighting over stupid things on Black Friday in Walmart. At Adams walmart yesterday some people got into a fist fight and a woman fainted. Not surprising that someone got killed over this. Very sad though.

I read that this morning - how very sad. You know those Walmart employee's don't earn that much...especially not to die for. Something about a pregnant woman in the crowd and some other people got knocked down too.

I wonder if the people who helped push down the door feel at least a little guilty over acting that way over some discounted items. I still don't understand the whole excitement over Black Friday. I see some good deals but I guess I just can't be bothered to stand in line that early and fight with people over items. I usually stroll in after nine and if the item is still there, I buy it, if not, oh well. This year I had to send my husband and sister-in law to get some toys that were half off, but they didn't get there until 9:30 and they got what we were looking for.

Nothing but polite shoppers at my local gun store. No shoving. No one died.

That's certainly refreshing. ;)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
