Where would I like to live: Within 30 minutes of where I work :) I care less about whether it's a suburb or an exurb or inner-city and more about that. That said, I'll pass on any areas that are high-crime and/or have significantly higher property taxes (as a proportion of my take-home income) than what I'm paying right now.

What type of housing: I'm flexible. One story house is fine, two story house is fine, so is a high rise condo/apt. Just no trailer, houseboat. Thanks.

What area: I love the south-west but in the end my decision will be based on work and family. That's why I am where I am.

I like living in a suburb or smaller town that is within an hour or so of a bigger city.

I prefer a one story house, possible 2-story but not necessary, and probably wouldn't be good to have stairs because of my ankles.

I kind of like some aspects of living here in a tropical area, but I really like Tennessee also. Colorado seems pretty to me too, I've never been there though! After living by the coast my whole life, I wonder if it'd feel weird to be really far away from it...even though I hardly ever go to the beach! Still, I don't want to move away from here, mostly because of family and friends. But I hate the hot humid summers here.

A single story house in the south west desert on the ocean with water views. But that combination is somewhat impossible, so the south west near water would do.

...in a maintenance free house with no taxes, no crimes, the best paid and rewarding job across the street, next to a bar where there is absolutely no trouble but it is a joy to go in. And opposite the best steak house in the world....and with my sweetheart of course!

2 storey house (altho one storey wth a basement would work too, lol), somewhere warm and dry and not too far from a city but not too close either (crime problems, no thanks)

I don't want to live all squished up next to other people - space is good - but I know that where I WILL be living I'm gonna miss the convenience of having stores within walking distance.

Still..what matters is Im with my SO

I take issue with the California = hot and dry part. Have you ever been to the Bay Area? The mountains? California has it all!

I'd much rather live in the northern part of CA than the southern part (and god forbid The Valley!)

Give me a nice, detached house with a bunch of land around it...secluded beach access, lots of nice forrest around...within a couple house of somewhere like San Francisco. That would be perfect.

I want a little house like over in Europe.

To hell with these big american monstrosities we are building more and more of.

I want more time for fun and less time spent on cleaning and maintenance.

i chose living in a highrise in manhattan ... but honestly, i'd love to live in a little house (or even an apartment) in europe. ..... ::sigh:: i love europe.....
