I'll hit the malls later this afternoon to avoid the maddening crowd. Most of the stores in my area opened early today, some as early as 4 AM, Mountain Time. Well, let me figure out ... I have 2 siblings, 3 nephews, 2 parents, some close friends at work, not to mention Pilar in the PI ... and me, I need a new pair of Tony Lama boots. Wow, my credit card will be maxed out by the end of the day ...

No shopping for us, we are still preparing for AOS so we will be saving every penny we can. But even in the Philippines, I was not fond of going to midnight sales or other kinds of sales coz you would have a tendency to spend and buy stuffs you don't really need just because they are on sale. With the economy as it is now, even if we are done with AOS, I will still urge my husband to save up every penny we can. I was thrifty before, now I am stingy.

All the adults in my husband family have already made a pact not to exchange gifts this year due to economic reasons and had the kids draw out names thanksgiving eve so we will only have to buy for whoever our kids picked out. My mother in law also emphasized she don't want any gifts for christmas but she wants work gifts/labor gifts so we will help her fix her garden come spring time as a late christmas gifts... as for our other needs, as long as it is not basic need, it can wait.. for winter coats there are good stuffs at salvation army stores and other second hand stores, they are always on sale and I have even bought some stuff which still have tags on it, never been worn.

How's it going, Gaye? I very much admire your candidness and also your thriftiness. I guess you've got some Ilocano blood travelling in your veins just like myself. I wish that Tess has a little trace of your character. But she just emailed me that she's running out of her Shiseido and she wants it and some other cosmetics for Christmas. Merry Christmas, Gaye! :star:

Not Ilocano... but I am half Igorot which still originates from the north so kasali na siguro yon.

I was never fond of make up but i am using some anti-aging moisturizers here coz the cold weather has been drying my skin out.

We are doing ok, my kids are doing great, they were both in the honor list for the first grading...and my son is catching on with the southern accent fast. (husband says, he is talking like a redneck more and more, i don't know if i will be happy or not).... well, i do catch on with the johnston county phrases like: y'all, down yonder, fixin to..., and etc. still a long ways to go.. my husband don't want me to learn to talk the way they do and his aunt also told me not to learn it because she actually don't like the way they murder the english language but well, i may need to learn to talk like a true southener pretty soon if i want them to understand the way i talk, they sometimes have a hard time understanding me, as my mother in law said, i talk proper english and they don't so it is hard to understand me sometimes

Just got word from my fiance in Santa Fe, NM that Black Friday was kind to him today. He says that the malls are not too crowded compared to prior years and that prices are a lot lower today than they were a year ago. He's lucky too, because I am not with him yet, otherwise he could have spent a little fortune on my desires. Just kidding ... I know how to spend hard earned money wisely ... I am of Ilocano ancestry, you see ...!

Hello Manong! We didn't go shopping today even though it's my day off from work. We only go to shop in this place where they help you "Save money. Live better". People at Best Buy were waiting all night to buy one of 150 laptops on sale. Only to find that as soon as the door opens, people cut in front of the line, you know, and none of the people waiting all night got any laptop at all. No shopping trip for us today. We don't like the crowd anyway. Need to save money for the rainy day. -- Marie

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

Jeeez, I’m exhausted from yesterday’s Black Friday! Not only that, my pocket’s empty, my Visa is stretched to the limit and now I have to ponder who did I miss from my Christmas list. Today, I’ll drive to the Christmas tree farm and cut down my own tree and adorn it ASAP. I hope I still have the ornaments from last year.

How about you, my friends in this PI discussion boards? How did your shopping go yesterday? Have you set up your Christmas tree yet?

Got me a 7 foot prelighted artificial fir last night and will decorate it after I get back from the golf course this afternoon ...

Well, I got my dad to get in line early on Black Friday, when I showed up, he was first in line..:lol: we picked up our Blu-ray player(they only had 3 in stock..toinks!!) Then I was @ Costco yesterday and saw the same one with extra stuff(love it when Costco gets the same stuff and add extra goodies to it), so... I bought that one and returned the other...

Also, after hitting up 2 different Walmarts (1/hr after they opened @ 5am  ) for some cheap Blu-ray movies and finding out they were all gone, decided to stop by Best Buy and glad I did, they had plenty left and were also selling them for the same and some lower in price, $10 Blu-ray movies anyone??

Today, I'm putting up the lights and next week getting a fresh tree... love the smell when it's in the house :)

Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

Ingats!!

I’ve got to hit the stores again this weekend because I totally forgot some close friends at work. There’s this dark haired Italian beauty, a la Claudia Cardinale, that checks my expense reports and just got divorced after being married for 17 years. She’s Donna and just for those sweet Sicilian smiles as you pass by her, especially with that dress with a low neck line that makes you wonder why her ex-husband let her off the hook, she deserves a little gift. And then there’s this Korean doll, Leah her name is, that could pass for Susie Wong and whose workstation is adjacent to mine’s and who occasionally asks me for some golf instruction. She deserves something too. And, not to forget Olga, the peppery Mexican from Guadalajara, who I occasionally go out with for lunch at Baja Fresh or Rubio’s in her Pathfinder SUV. Olga will get a regalo from yours truly.

Now, about those sandbaggers, Jeff, Rick and Chun, who are part of my regular foursome at the golf course … I’m gonna regift to them these sleeves of golf balls that I got on my birthday. (Nike ain’t my brand, folks. It’s Ping for the clubs and Callaway for the balls). And as much as they adore Tiger Woods and I don’t, these clowns will get the recycled Nikes and, holy cow, I’ll save some cash!

And for the traditional exchanging of gifts at the office Christmas party on the 19th, a two bottle combo of Sonoma County chardonnay and merlot will do the trick … Go finish your Christmas shopping, folks, before the good stuff are all taken. And don’t forget the tree … :star: :star: :star:

No, they ain't, boy, although I must admit that I had a very brief fling with one of them earlier this spring. And I ain't worried, Tess knows about this.
