Since by biometrics appointment in late August, my file has not been 'touched' by the VSC. I'm not particularly worried about that but I do have one concern. When we sent in our I-751 petition, as one of many pieces of evidence, we sent in our joint tax returns. Instead of the IRS tax return transcripts, we sent the 1040 forms prepared by our CPA. On these 1040's, my correct SSN was used. I later found out through this website that the USCIS prefers the "official" tax transcripts. I thought it might be a good idea to get these transcripts in my hands in case I got an RFE requesting them. I received the transcripts the other day. Here is my issue: for some unknown reason, when the CPA actually e-filed the returns, he used my Canadian SIN instead of my SSN! Agh. I marched over to his office asap and he called the IRS and had it changed. Unfortunately they told him it will take at least three weeks to go through the system. Strange as this may sound, I'm kind of hoping my case is not touched for the next month so that the correct information can be updated. I really don't know the different checks and database cross-references the USCIS use when reviewing a petition so I guess I'm fearing the worst. Is there anything else I should do; i.e., send in some kind of notice of correction, or should I just sit tight?

I have yet to have a single aspect of my immigration go without at least one hitch (and always someone else's error!!!) so don't mind me if I seem needlessly mental.

Thanks guys,

Jo

If it gives you peace of mind to have the transcript just in case, then order them after the 3 weeks the IRS people said it would take to update. You can even do it way after that time. RFE are sent when they actually start working on your case, which, since your in VCS, would be next year around May (I don't have your timeline but if your biometrcis was in August I'm guessing you submitted in June or July). VCS is taking 10 and 11 month to process. I got a RFE 10 month after I submitted. Don't worry about getting a RFE yet, you have plenty of time to get those tax transcript if you really want them
