The only reason we used a lawyer is so that we got the forms right first time, after alll thats another claim that he made in that many of the forms get rejected because of lack of info etc... so we felt if that was the case in his expereince it would be wise to hire him for this purpose only! And yes he's had the stuff long time June this year in fact. But the problem is the complete lack of communication all we wanna know is does he have all the info, is it correct and if so then when are you going to send it off dammit!

Thanks for the reply btw

They don't know when they got married?

they're trying to file for a k1 visa which would allow them to get married. if they were married already they would not be able to file for this.

They don't know when they got married?

They are filing for a K1 visa so right now they have NOTHING to put in a timeline unless they can get this lawyer to tell them when/if he has filed their paperwork yet.

Even if they were doing a spousal visa and had the marriage date - putting just that in a timeline would not help them right now or help the VJ stats without any filing date.

Plus right now the OP has a bit more on their plate to worry about than the VJ timeline! They have been waiting five months for this lawyer without any sign their petition has made it further than his desk.

It is wrong to assume that these lawyers who have visa websites actually handle the flow of incomiing work. Most of them seem to farm the work out to people working out of their home, whose only real skill is to put your information into the USCIS forms and get them back to the lawyer's office...if there is actually an office. Then the papers are filed in the lawyer's name.

It certainly does appear that way. I had wondered if he was a one man band, instead of the so called 'team of immigration experts'. Seriously man if i can just get him to send off the damn paperwork

and we get receipt of that from USCIS, or just confirm that he has done so then his services are done and we can manage from then on in, especially since everything we ever would need is on VJ.

So soon a s i possibly can, its probably best to terminate his service or lack-of and take things from there. even if it moves him to pull his fingers out i doubt very much we will continue to do business with him after the initial phase.

I guess it was worth posting on the forums since the comments and advice given have been satisfying! Thank you strangers!!! :D

Thats why I couldn't trust someone else handling my case. I'm young, often unmotivated, juggling full time school and work, and I'd still rather do it myself. all of our paperwork turned out just fine though.

And yea I doubt the lawyer does it themselves. probably too busy driving their BMW and "evaluating" their secretary.

I interviewed 3 different visa attorneys and then, after we found this website, we decided to do this ourselves. I wanted our K1 application to be as important to our lawyer as it was to us, and that just wasn't going to happen. I am glad we decided to save our money and do this ourselves.

03/26/09 : NOA1

 Thank you my Tomaran for digging for answers for us like I said no question is a stupid question .I shouldn't be made to feel like I'm burdening our attorney or to have to go off his time line of when he feels like getting things done.As for all these people on here we are ready NOW ready more then year ago to get the matter at hand resolved and not having a time line of how much longer we will have to wait to be together is the biggest frustration. And if everything is in order and has been sent off least he could do is drop a line and let us know that .

The time this takes is not set in stone but having the lawyer update the info he does have and tell us he has sent is off is all we basically have asked for.So looking from my finances point of view when he looks at the sight and have it say that our lawyer has none of the forms B&LL cR*P HE DOES HE IS MESSING ABOUT WITH OUR RELATIONSHIP Because who wouldn't ask .

Thank you everyone for your time in answering some questions we have,If the ball doesn't start rolling now sure to say this forum will be very helpful to us taking the matter in our own hands.

PS~ His link is now been suspending  not so comforting

LOVE YOU TOMARAN XOXOXO

My attorney hid behind voice mail and never answered emails until the time I put "State Bar Complaint" in the subject line of my email. He called within 5 minutes and I was able to get an answer to my question.

Then I should cling to my phone and Tomaran as well because it has got to that point. All we want to know is when and if he sent off paper work.We can handle the rest from here on out but can't even get an answer. So he has sent off email as of yesterday stating just that answer or we no longer need your service and we would like all our paper work back and will file a complaint.

I work my a** off for basically chump change, amazes me how little lawyers do for so much cash.Wish we had found this sight sooner

Well, I feel like I am in the same boat...not that my attorney is giving me major problems, but I would not have hired her had I found this website earlier. She charged $500, and they "guarantee approval" I don't know if the guarantee applies to just the NOA2 or the K-1 visa. And they refund all the money if you are not approved. I found her on this website: http://k1k3visas.com/. I plan on continuing with her for AOS, but just because it will be of no extra cost to me and she already has the paperwork. She was very helpful in filing all the correct information and necessary paperwork, and she even got the case# from USCIS for me to track, BUT she did not tell me that I was supposed to get the NOA1 (I-797) in my mail, which I did not, and now, almost 100 days later, she tells me that I should have received the NOA1 in the mail a week after they got my case...even though I specifically emailed her and asked her about this about 90 days ago...and whenever I ask her any questions, it seems to me that she just feels burdened by my questions, although they are all legitimate questions, and she has given me some wrong information about I-134's, which thanks to this website, I found the correct information, and her answer to everything is: just wait, we will sort out everything at the right time...BUT on the other hand, she is very prompt in her replies to my emails to her and phone calls, even though I may not be satisfied with the answers, she does answer all of my attempts to contact her, and she did prove to be dependable in terms of filing the correct information and all, no RFE's for us. Oh and yes, I ended up calling USCIS and they put in another order for my NOA1 (I-797), so I should be receiving it in about 1 week...

Bottom line: I would not have hired an attorney if I had found this website earlier..

Hey buddy if i had your attorney i would be happy as larry. at least she responds back in a timely manner. I have been trying to get hold of mine all week and not just calling once or twice a day but at least 10 or more times a day!! and at various intervals too and each time i'm greeted with the same leave a message hoohaa...and for the record leaving messages is a waste of my breath because last time i left a message he called back a week later. in the time which he we retained his services we have spoken to him perhaps 3 or 4 times and in fact the last two conversations was to tell us he received the forms, they are on his desk but he will be away for a week and will look through them when he gets back. So the 2nd conversation is when he returned after the week away to tell us that he trusts the forms are in order and will send them off. To me that indicates that he hasn't even looked at them and is just trusting us that they are correct. So correct me if i'm wrong but isnt that the whole reason we hired you? so that we didnt make any mistakes and so that he can correct us or tell what else is needed if anything?

He certainly does not inspire or fill me with confidence and i may cease to do business with him after the holidays.

Thanks to rocks btw for sending the links to the massachussets state bar complaint forms

I'm sorry to hear you are having HUGE problems with your attorney! Damn!

May cease??? I'd blow him right off.

OK, now your in a bit of a pickle....take a step back and think about how to resolve the matter. There are plenty of people here to help.

:star:

Yes thanks Rocks that got a response not at all what I was expecting of a lawyer .But mention that bar and it may have not been 5 minutes but it was frantic.Time line coming LOVE ;D
