I'll bake you some cookies amanders. :D

Alright!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Mike and I also started this tradition of bringing Ethan up to NY on December 8th each year to take him to Rockefeller and also to go to Strawberry Field. My son is a huge beatles fan and enjoys the Lennon memorial that goes on that day but it also gives us a chance to show him the tree and go check out the Macys window displays.

Also instead of name tags on the presents I'll be making sugar cookie gift tags wrapped in cellophane. I'll just pipe their names out with icing. Its just an excuse to bake more actually. ;)

Oooh!! That's a really clever idea!!

I'm done. I have to be, the deadlines for posting International are past.

I am in NZ, but my family are all in Canada, so I have to start early. I'm getting closer if nothing else :star:

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Sprailenes sounds like you do Christmas up right!

I just finished packaging gifts to the family back home tonight. Hopefully have everything off in the mail on Monday.

We went to the Art Gallery at Volcanoes National Park and they had amazing gifts there along with beautiful artwork. I wish my funds were endless. :crying:

I got my sister-in-law hand carved Koa wood mixing spoon because she loves to bake. I also attached a note requesting shortbread and sugar cookies asap. :P

:star: 25 Days Until Christmas :star:

Christmas%20Wreath.jpg

What a beautiful wreath! Gene and I stopped into a nursery on the way back from my in-laws and bought a live swag and wreath. I'm going to go to the dollar store and see what kind of cheap ball ornaments I can get and some bows and picks to decorate them. We breathed heavily on the drive home enjoying the pine aroma.

We also delivered baskets to his family while we were up there. They're hidden away until Christmas. Normally we don't exchange gifts with anyone on his side of the family except his parents, but I started in early with some home made gifts, Gene joined in, and we ended up with a basketful of gifts for everyone. We had a lot of fun making them up.

Before Friday we have to get the "Christmas" things down from the attic above the garage. I think we bought Christmas cards on sale last year after Christmas and they're up there! Can't send them out until we get that stuff down.

My husband said he sent theirs to North Pole, Alaska to the attn of Santa. He thinks that the local postmaster collects the letters addressed to Santa and their organization of volunteers write the kids back. So it never actually makes it to North Pole.

This is from last year, but I think it has a bunch of addresses:

I've been there before in the middle of winter and it is the CUTEST town. I'd like to live there (for a week or two).

I didn't even know there was such a thing as 'cybermonday' for shopping, but there you go!

So I have been shopping online and so far I have bought myself new pyjamas (got 20% off!) and also bought a new fabric shower curtain (free shipping from Target!). Doesn't help with the xmas shopping though

Come on T-mixy...Cyber monday is the best. So far I have bought a 4gb nano for 104.00 off of Amazon. There are some sweet deals out there. I also bought a Tom Tom on Friday for $99 :)

This post gave me the warm fuzzies :luv:

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are homemade gifts and gift baskets. They are so much fun to make and even more fun to give/receive. When we were small my mother used to have Christmas Craft Night and we'd make ornaments for the tree and for our family members. She'd get out these big contains filled with junk and we'd craft away all evening.

This tradition carried on well into adulthood with spouses, boyfriends/girlfriends getting into the spirit. I still get the occasional email from my brother's former girlfriends asking if we're having craft night and can they come too. It seems that as we got older the ornaments became uglier and uglier but great memories and full of laughter none the less. What could be accomplished with some felt, a glue gun and glitter was amazing.

My aunt still has every last nut baby we ever made for her on her Christmas tree to this day.
