Relationships not for love, but for an easy Green Card

 Share

Are you being used/using someone for an easy Green Card?

161 members have voted

  1. 1. Are you a US citizen who's in a loving relationship, or are you being used for an easy Green Card?

    • I've come to the conclusion that I'm just being used for an easy Green Card.

    • I think it's for love, but I've sometimes suspected that I'm being used for an easy Green Card.

    • I think my fiance/spouce is with me purely for love, I just happen to be a US citizen and he/she needs a Green Card in order to live with me here.

    • I am not a US citizen (vote for this option so as not to skew the poll, then vote honestly in the following poll question).

  2. 2. Are you a foreign national who's in a loving relationship, or are you using your American fiance/spouse so you can get an easy Green Card?

    • I'm not really in love, I'm just using my American fiance/spouse as an easy way to get a Green Card.

    • A little of both. I love my American fiance/spouse, but if we had to live in my home country and couldn't move to America, I probably wouldn't marry him/her.
      3
    • I'm with my American fiance/spouse purely for love. I'm only getting a Green Card because I want to be with him/her, and he/she just happens to live in America.

    • I'm a US citizen, not a foreign national (vote for this so as not to skew the poll, then vote honestly in the above poll question).

I was just so sick of the free healthcare....I had to get outta there somehow. ;)

Absolutely! And who wouldn't want to spend a year out of work for the pleasure of studying their college notes and spending $7000 taking exams just to be able to work in the same job as in their home country? :P

Removing conditions:

10/9/10 - Package sent to Vermont

10/13/10 - NOA1 date, received 10/18

So far I haven't met any Canadians who came to the U.S. just to get a greencard....

I have met a lot of illegal Canadians who don't have green cards and just live here.

I've met a few but never realized how many there are until one of them told me it's pretty common

Of the 60foreign national respondents to this poll, 9 of them are in it for a green card. That's 15%!!

I do not envy USCIS.

I replied like that of course!!

Do you really think I would take such a piece of ####### poll/thread seriously???

we're two peas in a pod cause that's how I voted.

I'll tell you what marrying for love is - laying next to your snoring husband and not punching him in the ribs or suffocating him with the pillow.

I find it hypocritical, although I'm sure the actual intent was just silliness.

im sure you're right, but charles + discussion about illegals =/= silliness everrrr. I guess if its about Canadian illegals - well thats ok then. :)

Lol - oh this thread is hilarious!

Actually I think the two who replied erroneously just to...well I guess make fun of the poll, actually mght bring on more accurate results in the end, Uncle Wally...because now there are MORE than two people who replied that they're just using the USC's for green cards. You might actually get some genuine answers (which would be pretty interesting actually).

Course, I didn't vote because I'm now actually divorced - have been for a year. Came here for love though. I had a good career in the UK with a company I'd ben with or four years; friends; all my family etc etc. Conversely, I knew nobody here - but came here anyway for love. I was the one sending HIM money to pay HIS bills via wire transfer from Britain! Hilarious really... I supported him monetarily while here in the US as well. It was never the other way around. In some ways you could say he used ME for income and status purposes - so he could boast of having a wife who paid all his bills, and someone to knock around when he felt like it. Funny, huh?

So I left him after a very tumultuous marriage in which abuse of every kind was rife. Got divorced a few months later and self petitioned to remove conditions, because honestly, who wants to move back to England after three years of making a life here? I owned a car; a house...I have friends here and a good job.

And the best thing - I now have my own arm candy - a USC I got together with after my marriage broke up! Hurrah for Harry - I am SO using him for the fact that he's good at mending things; he's fabulous in bed; he's a good guy to go fishing with (he can catch Northern Pike by hand!) and he's generally fun to be around. Oh wait....that sounds like a good relationship. Perhaps I'm just using him for a great relationship then...in which case I'm not really using him at all because I give as much as I get, and the love is bountiful :D We're not married though, so I still can't vote :P
