Will be driving down to Arkansas very soon, and was wondering which is the best POE to cross at ?

I have three choices, and have elimated the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls as one of those choices. Would really like to cross at the Peace Bridge but dont have any idea on what to expect there.

Anyone with experience good or not so good at the Peace Bridge please give me details.

I crossed at Queenston-Lewiston on 11/15 and it was SMOOTH and EASY. I arrived at 5:30 am no one else was there. It couldn't have gone better.

We went Sarnia/Port Huron and had a smooth transition. It may be a little bit out of your way but if it works for you, I can recommend it.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I'd highly recommend going over the Ambassador Bridge to Detroit through Southeastern Ontario. That's one of the largest crossings between the US and Canada and they have staff that knew what they were doing, good luck!

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

Hi Darcy_cene,

I would definitely not recommend the Rainbow Bridge, at Niagara Falls, unless you want to be harassed at the border for 2hrs or so...lol...(as that's what happened to me at my POE there...what a nightmare!...see my VJ timeline for more information)

From my experience, I would recommend for the Peace Bridge for you to cross at, as the many times I have crossed there (I live close to the border in NYS and go to back to Canada sometimes), I've had no problems crossing there between the USA and Canada, and vice versa. They also have a lot of booth/checkpoint lanes there, and experience the least amount of delays. In and out in 10 mins, with a few minor questions (ID, country of citizenship, reason for going, anything to declare...just be truthful there when being asked, and have all of your paperwork ready beforehand)....then simple and easy in and out between the two countries...

Before you cross the border, just in case, you should also look at the following website too, to double-check on the traffic conditions on the day you are crossing over:

http://apps.cbp.gov/bwt/index.asp

Hope this helps. Happy POE crossing! Good luck on your immigration journey!

Ant

P.S. Once you are in the USA, don't forget to drive in Miles, instead of Kilometres....lol....as you don't want to get a ticket for driving at the wrong speed!

We went through the Peace Bridge. Everything went pretty smoothly, except that they wouldn't let my fiance pull over and wait with me (he was following in a separate car with a lot of my stuff). He went on to the motel we'd booked outside Buffalo. Also, my cat was in the car and they don't allow pets into the building ... it was the summer but it was about 10pm so all was well. It wouldn't have been ok if they had wanted me to leave my cat in the car on a hot summer day. I waited for about an hour and processing took about 20 minutes. Also imported my car there. That part was fast and easy.
