I can call myself a cheap-a$$ gentleman since I remember everything (thanks to technology) but I'd never buy something super expensive for my wife, we are not materialistics and she agrees with this ;) that's why I fell in love with her because I hate when women expect men to buy them expensive gifts or support them.

People are different. I would never be happy having my husband supporting me, and I'm proud of being able to afford myself whatever I want to buy. Still, I was raised and have always been around people that exchange gifts. It's a natural thing to do, for me and everybody that has been in my life.

As mentioned above, it's the thought of it that counts, not the amount on money spent. I have never met a woman that doesn't expect their SO to at least write a card, do something personal for them to show they appreciate them.

I give her presents just not expensive ones ;) flowers, those great edible arrangements (I'm not into cards though). She loves to go have dinner or travel, that for me is better than buying her a stupid 2K bucks diamond ring

It takes good sense to know what you can and cannot afford, what's within the budget. if I made huge amounts of money I'd probably buy expensive stuff like 2K+ for my husband. So far the most I was able to spend was $800 on his guns safe :P Since my money is his money, we will not go broke to spoil each other.

Bills first, savings account second, extras third.

I guess it's more of a cultural thing then. It's the first time I hear about it not being a normal thing. For me it's like pooping, something that has to be done :P

Hey don't get me wrong - I love gifts.

eeek i just had a bad idea.
