Card production ordered for my son, it is the green one

 Yay!! Congrats Peet!!!

Love the pics Peet...liked um in B&W and like em even better in color!

So, we finally got all the forms filled out for the AOS this weekend. Now I just have to take a copy of my tax stuff from last year. Hubby is calling several CS in the area to get prices. He won't need another medical...just the signature I think. Hope they don't try to rape our bank account! I will feel better once it is all in the mail to the USCIS already.

We went up to Solvang, Ca this weekend...a little Danish town. Funny how everyone thinks Dutch and Danish are the same thing here in the US. We got a few cool things...and then off to a little historic bar in the mountains...where I picked up a freaking deer tick. I was the only one NOT in shorts...and was wearing jeans...but I had to get attacked. Off to my doctor tomorrow. Sheesh!

Looking at a different house in Seguin, Tx now...nice on almost 7 acres. Hope we get it. Lots of work to do as there isn't even one tree or bush on that whole property! But...I am thinking of it as a clean slate. Well, we will see what happens.

Also went to that Dutch food store about 1.5 hrs from my house. Not worth the drive to go back when we can order online...but we got some good Dutch food. No frikendellen (sp?) though.

-Blu-(just updating y'all)

Woohoo...Seguin is a nice town too and not that far from NB!!! Let us know how it's going!

Hugs, Liz

don't have much time, just want to let you know Lindsey, you cant bake bread here the same way as in the Netherlands, we found out the hard way.

Flour is processed differently.

We have a bread maker and are adjusting US receipts to our taste.

Just adding all kinds of seeds to make it more grainy.

off to do other stuff now, be back later!

Oh yeah, we knew that. A lot of things factor into making bread; even the weather, so we are aware that it will never taste the same as it does over there. We're trying to get it as close as possible though! haha The crust on the tiger bread is a bit flaky and strange though, but I believe that has to do with the humidity here in Florida.

Hey peeps! Here another Dutch/American couple. I am usually not very active on here but right now we are in the process of getting my conditions removed so we'll be online more often.

Didn't read back more than one page in this topic but I am planning on keeping up from here on. As for bread making... Yeah... I tried too and as a matter of fact last week was the very first time I finally made a bread that I enjoyed eating. Don't ask me what I did different because I never write down what ingredients/ how much I use. :)

LindseyJohnnyK- Where in Florida do you live? We live in Panama City. Tomorrow we'll be on a roadtrip in the direction of Tampa. And 10 to 16 april We'll be in Orlando to visit Disney.

Oh maybe a little more about us: We met in 2006 while I was living in Belgium and my husband was stationed in Germany. We were married on feb 21st '08 and on march 2nd '09 I gave birth to our wonderfull son Ryker. We also have a dog (Boxer) named Xena.

Hi Lynnami, welcome here.

We all would be interested in hearing what you are doing now to remove conditions. Most of us are just a step behind you, so removing conditions will be next.

Hopefully we will have a few happy people here in the coming weeks.

I know I am, no more NSCIS for 1 year and 9 months. We got our conditional green cards in the last two weeks.

What a beautiful name, Ryker and a late happy birthday to him.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I ended up not going with my husband on the roadtrip. I wanted to have a lazy day surfing the net and now is the internet not working 90% of the time... I am lucky to be able to post something real quick before internet is down again.

Question for all of you: Do you try to cook Dutch foods a lot? And what specifically? Also: what dish/ food/ ingredient do you miss most?

I miss filet american, frikandellen, paprika chips and vleeskroketten most.

Welcome Lynnami! Great to have another Dutch/American couple join us! I'm with Peet, it will be nice to see what you have to do for the ROC portion of this journey! We're still waiting on my husbands greencard but hope to have it within the next few weeks!

About the only thing Pat's been able to make so far is bloemkool ovenschotel....and as of now we're out of the mix that is needed to make that so I'm having withdrawls...lol! And he's made zuurkool stampot once but that will take some getting used to for me...hehe! We haven't tried very hard yet to find a store or website to get ingredients but I think if we asked, our friends back in Den Haag would send them to us...

Hugs, Liz

Hi Lynnami,

We already kind of met in the ROC-forum, we're in the same boat, just waiting till they wake up and approve us! At least it's not very stressful.

For everybody wondering how the ROC proces is: make sure you collect different documents as "proof" that you're living together overtime. It makes it much easier and quicker to get the ROC package together when you have to mail it in. I collected different envelops with our names and address on there over time as well as car insurance in both our names.

I have cravings for different Dutch foods at different times. Right now I would dy for some vanillevla! I get a lot of Dutch food shipped over by my family and about 2 hours from where I live I can buy some indonesian spices, so I have been making nasi and sate with pindasaus.

Letty- mmm yeah vanillevla... Now you make me want that too!

We really don't have any stores close by that I know of where you can buy Dutch food. My family sends me the pre mixed pouches of nasi spices (conimex) sometimes. Also pindasaus that you only have to add water and milk to. There was a period where they kept sending me drop... I am not crazy about it and after a while my kitchen cabinet was filled with all sorts of drop! I told them to stop sending it :)

Oh I like to make my own iced tea and really like cinnamon, so I ask my family to send me Pickwick Kaneelthee. My friends here love it and even want me to order some for them now.

As for the roc, for evidence of ongoing relationship we send in:

A partial copy of our 2009 joint tax return

Copy of car insurance notice

Copy of bank statement showing a joint account

Birth certificate of our son

Copies of our drivers licenses showing our address

That is really all we sent, and we'll see what happens.

We decided not to send pictures because to us that doesn't prove anything. They could be taken 3 years ago, what do the USCIS people know...

On May 3rd my husband is going to be deployed for 6 months and we hope that I will at least have my bio app before that so we can go together. It is a real pain in the rear for me to travel to Jacksonville with our son because it's about 5 hours one way. And that for freaking fingerprints that they already have from my AOS... I don't get the USCIS.

I can't remember exactly when you mailed in your application but most people get their bio about 1 month later. It depends a little on how busy your ASC is, but mine was in downtown Houston and on the day I had to go there was a huge line with people, so I guess they are pretty busy. I though I was unfortunate having to travel 2 hours one way first the 10 minutes fingerprint appointment, but you are surely much worse off!

We mailed in a lot with our application:

3 years of tax transcripts

several bank statements over the years with our names on it

lease contract and home owner documents

health insurance documents

car insurance documents

different utility bills in our names

car title in both our names

and a print of 4 very small pictures

itineraries of trips taken together

envelops with both our names on it

I don't think it really makes a big difference how much you sent in, some people are asked for additional evidence who mailed in pretty much you can think of. You're probably alright and I decided if this proces takes forever I'll file for citizenship next year which force them to make a decision on the I-751.

Keep me posted on how your processing goes!

Hi Liz,

You have to try vanillevla (or chocoladevla or hopjesvla) when you have a change! It's kind of like custard pudding, but cold and thinner. I have tried to make it here with custard but haven't managed to make it taste the same way. They have it in different flavors, like chocolade and uhh not sure how to explain hopjes. At different times of the year they sometimes have special flavors, like with Sinterklaas (Dec 5th) they might have speculaasvla. Vla refers to the custard pudding and the rest to the flavor.

I love it and thinking about it makes me want it soooo bad right now!
