I've only been to NL once and it was only for 2 days....I was in the UK spending a week and hopped over for the weekend...that was the first time Pat and I met in person..hehe! We didn't go anywhere other than the airport, the shopping center for groceries and his apartment...lol! We are hoping to go there during the summer of 2011 and spend a couple of weeks. I used to live in Germany and want to take my daughter to some of the areas I lived in plus a few other countries while we are there!

That's really cool. I have wanted to go to the UK but haven't been yet. If it were up to Mark we probably would do nothing but hang out in his apartment behind the xbox... but i nag too much for that :P He always enjoy what we do anyway. His parents live in Germany. It's a town called Emlichheim. It's small and rural and right over the border so I'm sure you probably haven't heard of it. Other then that, we drove through Belgium once to Disney Paris. That's a spot not to be missed with your daughter! It's prettier than the one in Orlando-- if you can imagine that (consider... Europe has REAL castles) but smaller. There's a great hotel called the Vienna International Dream Castle that is significantly cheaper than the disney hotels over there and just as nice as the most expensive one.... and the breakfast buffett is AMAZING! Chocolate pastries became my new obsession for a short while.

Please tell me you were in Holland long enough to enjoy stroopwaffles and olliebollen :D

---> Now, I'm hungry....

The UK was awesome...stayed up north but it is so pretty there!

Your right...never heard of that town...lol! I lived down south in Bavaria for 4 years and didn't travel up north much. My husband has been to Disney Paris and loved it so i think it will probably be one of the stops on our trip.

LOL...stroopwaffles are one of my FAVS!!! I didn't try them that first weekend but every time my hubby came for a visit after that he brought them for us..hehe! And haven't had the oliebollen yet either but have heard that they are totally yummy!

Hugs, Liz

LOL, you guys make me hungry.

Funny that you mention Emlichheim. I have a friend living there, she has several spanish greyhounds and often has fosterdogs of the group we both volunteer for.

There are a lot of Dutch living in that small place. Houses are cheaper than in the Netherlands so many people hop over the border and buy a house there.

Within 15 minutes you are in Coevorden, Netherlands.

Btw, did you ever get a chance to look at that link that I sent you on FB? The one with the house that had the horse stables and all?

They're awsome :D They also make these apple rings. All through December they're all sold in these little stands. I have two packs of oliebollen mix, but no deep frier! Surely it's a quick way to gain 20 lbs! :D

The houses in Emlichheim are lovely. I love the brick and stone work.... It's so classy compared to aluminum siding! And the houses are soooooo much cheaper. Mark's parents bought a HUGE gorgeous house on a huge piece of property for about 100 thousand euros. Meanwhile, over in Holland an hour away in Zwolle, it was 80 grand for a one bedroom apartment for my friend!

Coevorden is a town I know very well. Mark used to work at the snack bar there. They made all the food fresh... it wasn't that frozen out of the boxes stuff. :)

Hey there! We are SO ready for this weekend and are staying in NB again...DIFFERENT hotel though. We are both excited to find THE place already. lol. We did look at the house you sent us...can't remember what we did though. Hahahaha...May be on the list of places the agent is gonna show us. We have several horse properties this time. Everything is a blur now.

We have to get on the AOS stuff, and haven't really done much on that end. We finally got our marriage cert though..and my dear hubby found his birth cert...so...we are beginning to get it together...now if we can only remember where we put it. HAHAHAHA.

We went to the Holland American store though....he is happy to have some of his familiar foods back. I tried the Dutchmaster oude kaas. Too strong for me, but he loves it. And he LOVES having his beschuit in the morning again...so life is good. LOL.

Oh guys, don't know if I should be happy or nervous.

We got the RFE, mistake my side. Pretty common one I would think, I wrote the date on my sons AP the European way <_<

I knew that would happen at some time.

So, I have to get them a birth certificate and a translation and the normal stupid stuff that goes with it.

But…that will take some time to get here and now there is a time limit.

And than, today, I got an e-mail, my green card is ordered.

No word on my sons. Sigh, EAD and AP are handled on different places, so I am really hoping this stupid mistake didn't slow down my sons green card.

But I can't help feeling very nervous… this is USCIS we are talking about…..

We are super excited to be able to see you guys again...in fact, we might have found a place in NB to meet for dinner. I'll fill you in on that tonight on FB though... :-)

Peet - At least the RFE is something that can be fixed quite quickly! I'm sure once they get that back you'll get a message saying his GC has been ordered as well!!

Sorry for the delay! I've been without power! But it's finally back. The storm we had up here was completely randomly horrible with tons of trees down. :/

Nothing new from the VSC. I'm kinda GERRRRR because I'm seeing that the CSC has approved some early Feb filers. There petition dates that they're currently working on is Jan 3rd.... VSC is Dec. 3rd. What's up with that #######? :P
