I'm only half-dutch, but I feel more Dutch than English as I grew up there. I'm from Scheveningen, the seaside resort of The Hague. I lived about 5 minutes walk from the International War Tribunal Courts of Justice. My wife is from North-Eastern Oklahoma, just North of Tulsa.

My fiance is from The Hague and talks about Scheveningen sometimes. I'm hoping to fly to the Netherlands this summer and he said he would take me there. I've seen pics and it looks beautiful!!!

It looks like you and Kourtni are almost done with your journey...CONGRATS!!!

Where in the UK is your hometown? I was there for a week in 2007 and stayed in Chesterfield with a friend.

Not anywhere really, I grew up in Holland and had dual-citizenship with England and wanted to be a soldier, so I jumped across the North Sea and joined the British Forces. Just left, moving to the USA, so don't really have a "home" in the UK.

In Scheveningen, I lived about 2 minutes from the harbor, it was awesome living there. I spent 5 months back there last year, working with my Mother and really enjoyed being back, gaining my Dutch back to a fluent level, etc.

You'll really enjoy Scheveningen. Amsterdam is really overrated and The Hague is my most favorite city as it has so much history involved with it. Kourtni came over for 3 months and loved the place. 6 hours drive to Paris, 7-8 to get to Berlin. Only 3 and you're in Bastogne, Belgium. We basically road-tripped it to the max and got as much out of the trip as possible. Never know when the chance arises again!

Oh ok...hehe...you've moved around quite a bit then! LOL!

hehe...my fiance says the only time we'll see Amsterdam is when we drive to and from the airport...there really isn't anything there worth seeing he says. I want to spend as much time in The Hague as I can and visit the beaches, madurodam, the nearby parks and the zoo in Rotterdam (i think that's where he said it was). We're also planning a trip to Utrecht to visit with a friend! I just can't wait to go!!!

Hey, welcome to visajourney. I just sold my stuff as it was cheaper to buy new furniture than to ship my household contents, but I used UPS to send boxes with my most important stuff from the Hague. It cost just under 400 euro for 2 regular UPS boxes of 15kg each, I just checked and the cheapest for the same, with a value of 2500 euro for insurance purposes is now around 340 euro.

I have to agree with Paul....my fiance and I checked into it and found that it's much cheaper to just buy new things once he moves here. It's VERY expensive to have things moved from NL to here.

I know its not cheep but i would like my bedroom furniture that I got with my name engraved. Plus i have alot of household stuff already that is all new...i got a price of 350 euros per m3 with an international moving company. I would have around 7m3 i suppose. It would cost us more to buy all the stuff new. Was just wondering if ppl had experienced moving furniture.

I can understand with you have all new furniture I think. Most of my fiance's things are older and for us it wouldn't be worth him bringing the larger household things. He will bring and send some other items...more personal and sentimental things....i know when he comes here on Friday he's bringing some of his photo albums and pictures. hehe!

I hope you don't have to wait too long to get that NOA2!!! I'm just excited we're FINALLY going to file....we should have it all sent by Monday or Tuesday of next week!!!

Did anyone here use someone like UPS or FedEx to send your I129-F or did you just send it regular mail?

I know that my fiance send it i think by normal mail but paid for it. So they arent allowed to just drop it off, there has to be signed for. Just to make sure that it arrived thats why we did. Hope this helps you. Any questions just ask!

Can I ask which company you found? I wouldn't mind just looking at their information...

Yeah, I'm excited to see how much it is once we get it all printed out....lol! It's all filled in already, just need Patrick to review it to make sure I got it all correct and then the printing starts...hehe! Other than that, we need to get our passport-style pictures taken (which we'll do this weekend) and get a certified copy of both my divorce decree and my birth certificate (which i can do at the same place and have them in my hand when we walk out) and I think we'll do that on Monday morning. So...unless something strange happens I think we'll be mailing it on Tuesday.

Ok...I had thought about using the return receipt from the Post Office but wasn't sure if it would be faster to use UPS or FedEx...thanks for the info though!!!!

The company is Stoof TopMovers BV. The price i got (this was last year i asked it) was 380 euros m3. They said they would come for free to look more closely at what the costs would be if they saw all my stuff.

Dont forget to both sign a letter of intent to marry and a promise to marry w/in the 90 days after arrival. Just a tip, heard ppl got RFEs cuz they didnt;) Im so impatient to hear something! Its nice sharing experience here! Great site!

hehe...I have those for both of us...I just hope we don't forget to sign any of the others!! I'm so nervous about missing something on one of these forms or not sending in something. I've gone over the guides and the USCIS site and here to gather info on what should be sent...I just hope i haven't missed something!!!

This site has been a lifesaver to me! I don't know that I'd be able to handle the long wait if it weren't for everyone here!
