Lindsey hang in there! Thinking of you! yes that is sooooooooo hard! keep busy, than the days are going faster, but still... you want someone beside...close!

Lindsey, California service center isn't moving that fast right now!!!!!!!! because they work on the workvisa and not at the family based visa. BUt i think they are picking up to the family based ones again...hopefully!!

I always thought, an international birthcertificate would be fine??? But i need an original for NVC?????????

Sorry maybe i don't undertstand, but everything need to be in English isn't it??? So i guess we need international??? Please, who knows the answer?

My townhall isn't to far away, and i need to go there this week anyway, so... but when i asked for my birthcertificate, they made the international birthcertificate while i was there seems to me, its original because it isn't a copy of a copy....urgh, i understand it anymore!

I believe the difference is, the international birth certificate is just a photocopy of the original. You need to go to your town hall in order to get the original to prove you are who you say you are. Johnny got the wrong kind as well, so he has to travel all the way to Utrecht sometime soon and get the right one. *Note* He went to Utrecht the first time to get the international birth certificate so he got the wrong one from them. I believe there are just two kinds of the certificate needed, one is a photocopy, and one is an original.

Thanks for the support Ri! I didn't know California also was working on the work visas, since they are one of the main hubs you send the family visas off too. Well, either way hopefully all of them will pick up soon! I don't understand why it takes them so long anyway, it takes 15 minutes to enter the information into the computer and another to get forms ready to send off to that applicant! =]

There is no original, or at least they will never give you one. They will either give you a legalized copy ("afschrift van de geboorte akte") of the orginal dutch one, or the international one. I was confused as well and went to the interview with both, but they told me the international one is sufficient for the visa process.

Thank you Lindsey!

Well this week i go to the townhall and I will ask for the original one. Do i need to get this one translated??? Or how is that going? Pfff... if this need to get translated it isn't original anymore!

So i need an international birth certificate and an original one... which is a photocopy??

I think they have my passportcopy isn't it? I show that i am who i am... hihi...

I agree with you, I can't understand how they all work at USCIS... its a little thing to update their website but they don't do that either!

So my international birthcertificate is fine for the NVC too?

Lol!

I just replied to Lindsey and than Strombringer replied to Lindsey so thats why i have 2 different thank you's!! hihi!

Haha I'm starting to think it honestly doesn't matter which one you have! They obviously don't make it very clear in the first place. I'm not even the one that needs it and I'm confused! =] I think it's best just to have both, just in case they send you away because you got the wrong one.

Ri- Oh of course, didn't you hear? The US government is basically synonymous with confusing! =]

Also it frustrates Johnny and I so much that they don't update their website! Why even bother giving us a receipt number if they aren't even going to update the site? We check almost daily for pretty much nothing, since according to them they haven't looked at our application since the 18th of March.

Thank you!!

So my international birthcertificate is fine for the NVC too?

Yes, they cannot read the dutch one ;)

The international one is just fine. It lists your info plus your parents names, and that's all they need.

They won't change anything about the status until NOA2, and you will most likely get the NOA2 before they change anything on there. As in, the letter comes in totally unexpected. That's what happened to me and Jared and I've heard of that happening to others too.

Yeah, we've read of that happening on numerous occasions and are expecting it to happen that way. But still, the least they could do is update their site. =]

That I agree with... It's a nervewrecking thing anyway and having some updates every once in a while would be nice.

To give you a heads-up on how long it might take... We sent in our stuff the first time in January and got our NOA1 on January 14th. We got our NOA2 only 2 weeks back, so you might have to wait a little while still.
