Never been in Friesland! I would like to go to Hoorn sometime!

Great that you are learning more dutch, ah jah the bad words you learn so fast!

Exactly i am from 's-Gravenpolder its in Zeeland close by Goes/Kapelle.

Where are you from Blu? I use google a lot to figure out where it is. LOL! So than i know on what base my husband is ;-)

I am in not so sunny today, So. California. I LOVED Hoorn when I went last year. The buildings on one of the main streets, all lean in. It feels like any moment they are going to crash down on your head! LOL. And the unicorns everywhere! It is an interesting place. I am making him give me dutch lessons on the weekend! LOL. I learned...Ik zit op de bank. Hahaha...

-Blu-(learning a new language at my age is NO easy feat)

Now i read your post and think i knew you were from CA guess you told me before! Sorry for the bad memorie... its going to be bad on my age ;-) hihi... i am kidding!

The best is to learn a language when you are very young, little children learn so fast!

Ik zit ook op de bank! LOL!

Ik wens je een zonnig weekend! (I wish you a sunny weekend!)

Dankjewel! Me too.

-Blu-(currently NOT zitten op de bank...but instead at werk)

Hi Lindsey,

welcome, great to have you here. We got our first NOA halfway Jan. and received our second one just over a week ago, so you may have to have a bit of patience.

Blu, I am working with a guy from Franeker every day at the moment.

Living in the north of Drenthe myself and working on the Friese, Groninger, Drentse border.

So I am hearing all three dialects every day.

It is a beautiful area to live in, lots of fields, forests and small villages with old churches and tiny old cemeteries.

Hi Peet,

Thanks for the welcome. Johnny and I check this forum on a fairly regular basis [he just never posts] so we were aware of when you got your NOA2 - which made me worry about when we would get ours. It's really hard to tell WHEN someone will get theirs because obviously they are not quite going in order or taking the same amount of time for everyone. I've seen numerous applications filed after yours get their NOA2s before you, and I've seen completion times of only 4 months. It's really crazy how they review them, and frustrating that they don't offer more of an insight as to where your visa is in the process on the official USCIS website. And we are being patient, as patient as one can be with all the uncertainties. =]

Hey Blu....my fiance is from Den Haag. Born and raised there in fact...lol!

I mde a quick trip there in May 2007 but we weren't able to travel so Den Haag is the only place I've been so far. We plan to go back just as soon as he's allowed and take my daughter too so she can see some of Europe!

Hugs, Liz

~sigh~

This is frustrating. I have to get official birth certificates and I am assuming I have to get those from the place I was born.

The visa instructions make a clear difference between originals and certified copies (last one is ok for my son)

But they don't give those different options on the website I ordered them from.

Same goes for the marriage/divorce certificate I need, guess I need to get that also from the place I got married and where they made note of the divorce....

Nope, not really clear to me.

But maybe I worry too much.

Can you tell I am getting nervous?

I want to get that checklist back to the consulate asap.

The forms I had to fill in are in the mail right now and should be there on tuesday.

Hope to get the rest out before the weekend

I know Johnny had to travel all the way to his place of birth, or where they are registered at in the Netherlands [it's one of the two] to get his birth certificate. He would probably be able to tell you more, but I'm pretty sure he had to go to the place they are registered at in the Netherlands.

Maybe that helps clarify things for you, maybe it doesn't. I know here in the States we are able to call the office where our birth was registered and get more official copies but I don't think Johnny was able to do that with his, he had to be there in person I believe.

Thanks Lindsey, I think I ordered the right ones. In the place I was born.

These days you can get almost anything through the internet.

But the different names confused me.

Am working hard to get everything together for the interview now, wrote the letter of intent, am busy making copies of the blog we both write in, phone records. Have pictures and several things that prove I traveled to the US.

Some letters Jack wrote to me and the receipt for our wedding bands.

What the list doesn't say to bring, but what I think is needed, is a letter of consent of my son's father.

Working on getting that done also.

Phew, there is a lot you can get done on a sunday afternoon

Johnny [my fiance] was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands but he's now in the Maastricht area.

I am from the Maastricht area as well, Margraten to be precise (the village with the large American cemetery :)

You need the afschrift van de geboorteakte, which you can only obtain from the city hall of the city you were born in. They can provide the original version and the international version. I can recommend to get both. You will need the international one for the visa interview. You may need the original one later on to renew your dutch passport at the consulate in the vs (to prove your dutch citizenship).

I could request mine through the city hall website (gemeente Heerlen), so I didn't have to go by in person.

Aww thanks Liz! It is very hard, it's a little easier today but yesterday was horrible. We've been dealing with this separation for a long time though, since October of 2007, so needless to say we will be very glad when we get our visa and no longer have to say good bye. =] As I'm sure all of you who are waiting will be. I am by no means claiming it is harder on us than it is others, it's hard no matter what!

Vermont certainly needs to pick up the pace though, California is moving much faster.

I know Lindsey....it's really hard for us all!

Well, we have had 2 approvals this weekend for people in the Feb 2009 VSC thread I'm on! No updates on the website, no email notice, nothing until it showed up yesterday in their mailboxes! So, hopefully VSC will keep up this pace and have us all approved very soon!!

Hugs, Liz

From what I gathered from my NOA2 you need the originals. According to my parents you will get the original when you go to the townhall of the city you were born.
