Oh that's awful man! Sorry to hear that, I hope it all goes well for you guys.

I have called the Embassy, but the receptionist won't let you speak to anyone but her and she knows nothing, then there is the extortion line, which is a visa help line costing over 3 bucks a minute (!) and they said they only help people before the interview, not after and they nothing of my case. So I've emailed them and Amsterdam, hoping for something, but the London email got returned with "we have deleted your email without reading it, you do not have authorization to email us". So finally, the DOS (State department) visa line kinda confirmed they are waiting on the certificate, but couldn't tell me if they have applied for it or not. Monday I am calling Senator Inhofe to see if his Office can help us.

Hey Paul, hope you had a good call with the senator! I feel so bad for you!

I have another question...

I did read the shortcut you gave us.

Well we first send out our petition to USCIS, they need to approve it and send it to NVC and than the rest of all the packages ;-)

So what we send to the USCIS like things which show our bonafide marriage do we need to send that too NVC too? Can you remember this stuff? See now i did print our skypecalls etc...maybe they never look at that but a lot of people send that in to USCIS (we didn't because i forgot and well my history was in my laptop in NL and Daniel has a Mac so kind a different) so i was just wondering if we can send that to NVC too and when?

Take care!

Ri

The NVC doesn't look at any evidence, they just make sure that cases are prioritized correctly and then processed. The actual adjudication takes place at USCIS.

Well I guess it all depends on how much evidence you already sent in.

Yeah it is very exciting. Actually we just decided today that we are going to postpone the actual wedding ceremony. We will just get married at city hall for now, and we will probably have the actual ceremony next year. That way we can save money, and I can fly out there sooner :D

Welcome to our thread then!!

Uhm, I actually don't remember sending anything in as proof of our marriage to be honest. I'm talking to Kourtni right now and she doesn't either. We assumed that was what the interview was for, we never got RFE'd for anything to prove our relationship. We just sent in our marriage certificate....and our petition started only a month into our marriage, so I wouldn't worry. I didn't even get asked to present anything at the interview. That's more fiancee visa type stuff, I think, as already being married kind of proves your intent I guess. I might be wrong and we might just look the innocent type!!

On our side, we called the senator's immigration aide today and he apparently emailed London while on the phone to Kourtni, which was very nice of him. We are to call him back on Thursday to jog his memory, unless he has contacted us first. So fingers crossed I hear something this week!

- OUR TIMELINE -

04/25/08 - sent I-130 to Chicago lockbox

05/05/08 - received NOA1, assigned to VSC

Well, now I am home and can be on the internet as long as I want! LOL. Anyway, John and I met online in a place called Second Life, in June 2007. We became fast friends and then more.

We actually met when we both went to Bike Week (we are bikers) in Daytona Beach, FL. in Feb/March 2008. We spent 10 amazing days together and on the last evening, he proposed to me. He talked the band who was playing at the place we were at, into letting him play guitar and sing to me...he is also a very talented musician, and then proposed right on stage in front of a full house of people! Of course I said yes.

I went to Holland August 2008. I spent 3 weeks meeting family and friends and just falling more in love than ever. John came over this year for my birthday in Feb for 10 days. Unfortunately, I had to work the entire time he was here! That was tough. But I am going back to Holland for 2 weeks in August again. We talk every day (nighttime for me, morning for him) on Skype and im back and forth while I am at work and he is having dinner. We look forward to the time we can be together as an actual couple, not just an internet couple.

So, that is our story. Now we are just waiting, and I am trying to learn dutch! Not as easy at my age then if I was a kid. But I keep trying.

Awesome, you'll have to ride up to Oklahoma sometime then on route 66, which is real close to my new home! My whole new family are a bunch of bikers. We've got a road king and a sportster, along with a honda shadow (think we may have just sold that one though). I'm hoping to afford a new bike soon, so I don't have to bum the sportster! Not that I don't like it, I just want my own to customize.

John is from a little town in Freisland called Freneker. I loved it when I was there last. SO different than the neighborhoods I am used to in California. SOOOO green too. I was amazed at all the farms with no fences. Using canals to keep animals in is a great idea! When I was there, we also went to Germany, Belgium and Luxemborg. This year, we are keeping to Holland! I am anxious to go already.

Anyone have any ideas about ways to learn Dutch? I have been using Rosetta Stone, and of course, John helps. But it would be great to have several people to talk with. I am still at the very beginning of learning it. Rosetta Stone is great, but limited in that you aren't actually having a conversation with anyone, so you only learn the words and sentences they give you.

John speaks perfect English (hardly even any accent!), but I would love to learn it to talk to my soon to be new family better. They speak some English, but it would help if I spoke Dutch.

It might be easiest to find an ex-pat community in your local area and ask around for someone who can teach you the basics. I taught Kourtni enough so she can understand stuff when she stayed with me for 3 months in The Hague last year and she found it hard, admittedly. I've tried rosetta stone as I really want to learn Spanish, but I'm not too fond of it for the same reasons. There is nothing like learning from a native. ;)
