Wow, this thread has jumped so much since my last visit, it's almost impossible to catch up!

John and Jeanine, many congratulations on your visa approval! When do you plan on finally closing the distance? :)

Liz, I know you're still in the beginning stage of your journey, but I hope you hear nothing but good news soon. <3

As for me.. I've been busy! We've finally made some more progress with our own journey. TamTu received notice from the consulate today that his interview will be on May 14th. :D As for our engagement ceremony, it's going to be held on June 13th at a lovely place in Delft. He sent me a few of the invitations that his family is sending out for the engagement ceremony and they are absolutely gorgeous. They got, like, an 8kg [~18lbs] box of invitations for around 45 [$60] Euros! Anyway, I'm quite excited, and very, very nervous for my family to meet his. :X All I need to do is pick out the fabric for the traditional dress and we're pretty much set for the whole thing. Between that, my best friend has been helping me with various details for the wedding, and things are really starting to come together. :)

I hope everything is going wonderfully for everyone. <3

The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death,

So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath.

Ri - Your hubs is a Marine? That's awesome!!! And it does explain why he moved a lot..lol!!

LDR are tough but when you find your soulmate, it doesn't matter where they are from...hehe! We stay in touch through calls or either G-Talk or MSN. I don't have a webcam and with dial-up internet, Skype doesn't work well for me! It's ok though...we talk at least once every day at least!

hehe...we're going to get along just fine...I love countdowns too!! I don't have on yet...figured I'd start one when we get a date for Patrick's interview! :luv:

Hugs, Liz

Haha, I totally am. I really hope you get your approval so your interview can be scheduled soon - that way you can experience a whole new kind of anxiety. :P A really good kind, of course.

Hey Liz!

Ah thats to bad to have a wet weekend! Well i think here it will be sunshine, mabye wind but today its finally not so windy!

Tomorrow Daniel and I get a bridal shower, brunch, from people of our church! normally a bridal shower is a surprise but they did plan the date with us. I am excited. I have heard about those showers but never been to one.

And well we got married in January and now we have it but anyway its fun and still a surprise because i didn't expect something like that! LOL!

Oh thats to bad that skype doesn't work for you and no webcam, but well before we had that we did use the email and msn too.

Well I want to wish you all a nice weekend!

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Netherlands

Hey all....here comes the whole story about yesterday;) lazulineiris asked me some questions and i wrote them this story in an email...so thought why not just copy it on the dutch/american topic so all ppl know!

There i go....

I thought it would be all hard etc and was very good prepared with all copies from everything and showed up there with my big binder full of paperwork

I came in after some waiting by the gates, went through security, then stood in line for half hr..then was my turn and a very friendly person asked for my passport, birth certificate, the I134 with supporting documents, proof i paid the 107 euros, and he needed my J1 visa waiver cuz i've had that visa in 2006 and it has some requirements. Then he gave me back the Xray and the vaccination record and told me that i have to have my original brith certificate in my hand luggage during my travel to the usa. He took fingerprints from both my hands and told me to sit down and wait for the interview.

I sat for another idk half hr 45 min maybe and i was called to booth 6 (first was 5)...the guy behind the glass said i smelled like flowers lol and said he got confused from the smell  ...and made some jokes, was really friendly. I thought..now itll start...well he asked 'where did u meet ur fiance, whats his job, do u have any wedding plans' that were his questions and he put his fingers in the air and said a sentence he prob says a million times a day :star: that i could promise i filled it in all tru...so i said i did and he made me sign some papers.

Then all of a sudden (i expected more questions) he said "allright, ill give you the visa  , it will be send to you in a couple days" so i looked at him and said "thank you" ...that was it. said good bye and good luck in the usa.

Jeanine all happy...walking outside the buiilding with my big binder;) mostly still filled cuz they didnt even ask proof of ongoing relationship!! (he told me tho that i possible had to show that at the port of entry. I walked outside and as i was almost by the gate, the window opened and i was called back  ....i was like oh no! now what?? so again had to go trough the security and i came back by the window from booth 5 that called me through the window and he said 'they just forgot to verify ur vingerprint' and guess what...i had to wait another 20 minutes before the guy acme back and he said 'it was all cuz the flower smell when u walked up that i forgot to verify the finger print, if we dont do that we cant give the visa' so i was like 'glad its only this..thought u called me back to tell me the visa wasnt approved :) ' lol...he had to laugh and took the fingerprint and i was done!!

Thats all! Thought ill write it out good..so u all know how it goes during that day. I met another VJ member and it was nice to talk with her.

Make sure that u have document A (geboorte akte) and not 'uitreksel van het geboorteregister' cuz thast wrong. U need an international birth certificate. And u'll most likely need that at the poe.

Hope this helps and makes u feel all ready for the interview! So nothing about the I129 they asked....

Jeanine

No date set yet for when i fly but itll be 3rd or 4th week of may...depending on when the wedding will be...most likely itll be August 1!!

At this place: Ramsey Golf and Country Club

The 107 something euros are for the Immigrant Visa Unit from the Consulate....i guess some fee to make the visa. Itll tell u in the letter that Pat will get in packet 4 when he gets his interview date. U cant miss it cuz its at the top in bold red letters haha! Pay right when u get the letter cuz u have to bring ur bankstatement that shows ur payment. I didnt receive the bank paper yet...and im glad at the time i paid i made a print screen...so i had proof.

Oh wow, Jeanine....the 3rd or 4th week of May will be here soon!!

Ok...so they took the print screen as proof then...that works because I don't know that Pat could get a bank statement either. One more question if you don't mind, were you able to pay it directly from your bank account or did you use another form of payment. I just ask because Pat doesn't have anything like a credit card or anything.

Not sure who his bank is either but I asked him earlier and he said he can pay with the online banking at his too! So, that takes care of that..lol! And yes, it is very easy to get a credit card here....I don't have any but my bank card can be used as a credit card as well and just draws it straight out of my bank account. I like that lot better!hehe!

Hard to believe you will be moving soon.

Sorry to hear about the rain Liz.

The weather here is pretty good and I am using it to get the house clean before we leave next Thursday.

I can't wait

And I am really getting the idea it might be possible for us to get our NOA2 really soon.

Hope your bridal shower was fun Ri.

Must be exiting still to have things like that happen.

Great, TamTu knowing his interview date also.

Had to laugh over the invitations, how many are there

Must be an awful lot if there is an 8 kilo box

Well, going to spend the rest of the day cleaning and hoping my cold will be done and over with when we get on the plane.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday.

Petra
