Dutch citizen here, just signed up on the forums.

I've lived in the US for 7 years and met my fiancee during that period of time. We've known each other for over two years but have been separated for about a year and five months. We're finishing up the paperwork and will probably send in the I-129F within the next week. It seems like it'll be a very long wait from now but we're hoping it won't take too long!

Hi Johnny and welcome to the group!!! If you feel up to sharing, please tell us a bit about you and your fiancee! :)

Most of us here are in the process of the K-1 visa....and a couple of others are doing or have completed the K-3 process so if we can help with any questions you have, please feel free to ask...not sure we can answer them all but we'll sure try too...hehe!

Good Luck on your journey.....it is a long wait, but things seem to be moving along fairly well at the moment so fingers crossed for us all!!! :star:

Hugs, Liz

Thanks for the welcome, and good luck to you too!

I have lived in the United States from late 2000 to late 2007, and met my fiancee at our local community college (in the beginning of 2007, I was 17 at the time). I've been back in the Netherlands ever since and we've been having to visit each other roughly every 6 months ever since. I've been attending university for about half a year, but I'd like to continue my education in the US, as I've completed both high school and a year of college there. At first we had plans of having my fiancee move over here, but I really miss the US, and we're unsure if it would even work out as well over here as it would in the US. My fiancee does not earn much money at the moment and neither do I, so we're having her parents cosponsor my visa and we'll both get our degrees once I'm there. It has been hard staying apart for such a long time after almost having visited each other daily during my stay in the US, so I'm glad we finally get to be together. While we're waiting on the application to be processed I'll probably stop school and get a full time job (I REALLY need the money) so that I don't come to the US broke. I'm sure we're one of the younger couples on the forums, but we're just tired of being apart and want to spend the rest of our lives together =]

I actually did have a question:

I've read that beneficiaries are required to get police certificates from all places they've lived at after the age of 16. How would this work for the period of time I've lived in the US? Will they just look in my record and find it themselves? Or do I need to request it from the FBI or something?

All pictures but the one of the I-129F form were taken by a friend of ours in Florida, which is ironic since I've shot roughly 20,000 pictures with my DSLR

They were engagement type shots she did for us =]

John and Jeanine: It's good to know I won't have to do anything for the Dutch police certificate, hopefully I won't have to either for the American one! Thanks and good luck to you both too!

Hmmm...we're actually saying ages, huh?? Haha....Peet, I bet I either have you beat or we're close in age!! I'm Liz (gulp...37) from Texas and my fiance Patrick (39) is from Den Haag. We've been together just over two years now and engaged for 1 1/2 years. He's made quite a few trips here to Texas to visit and we're hoping to have me there after he has his interview so that I can fly home with him! :luv:

I don't know about the police certificate either. You might try emailing the Consulate in Amsterdam...I've heard they are very friendly and willing to answer questions.

Hugs, Liz
