Hey guys!

Here an update about our current situation!

I moved to America on April 7th and got married on April 11th! :) (YAY!)

We sent all the paperwork for the Adjustment of Status (AOS) including the Application for the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and the Application for Travel Document. They received it on May 30th and got NOA's on June 16th.

Then I got a letter with an appointment notice for the biometrics. I received this on June 19th and had my appointment July 8th.

I completed that and now we're waiting again. Anyone know if we had to do something after the biometrics? Like sent it somewhere of does that all go automatic?

I'm glad to hear that so many of you have been approved and are one step closer to living with their loved ones.

Also I want to say R.I.P to the victims of the horrible plane crash on July 17th. Stay strong to anyone who is closely effected by this.

- Britt

Nice Congratulations !! I did my biometrics for AOS this Tuesday. They told us to just wait..

After your biometrics. It's just a waiting game. If you applied for your advanced parole and/or employment authorization card you should receive it in about a month after your biometrics. For the rest hopefully the waiting isn't that long.

We are still waiting. Filled in March (after an RFE that result in march 28th). Its frustrating, but I failed to graduate so have to stay here till thats finished. Start of october I should be finished with it and then hopefully I get everything done and got past the waiting and just be busy with things here in the netherlands.

Question. Apparently in Ireland you can do medical before receiving NOA2. I wonder can we do the same in the Netherlands? I couldn't find it online. So hoping someone here has experience or could answer it. Also can I get my goed gedrag thing now? Since I am well within the 6 months and should receving my noa2 soon.

Well, I haven't done the medical yet, but I received package 3 and the instructions said not to book the medical yet, because once you do the clock starts ticking. Your med results are only valid half a year. Also you need the NOA2 letter and consulate case nr to book the medical. But you can get the Verklaring van Goed Gedrag already, I got it in March, way before I was approved. Just fill in the 'VOG voor een particulier' form (I found it on my gemeente website) and attach the 'supporting letter for Dutch VOG application' that is at this link: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/NL.html

Good luck! :)

Doesnt the ambassy arange for the vog? I didn't had to do anything for it. If I remember it right. All documents have to be in English or have been certified translations so i would make sure you have to do it yourself or the ambassy does it for you.

Wanted to welcome all you new Dutch/American couples! I have been off this forum for quite awhile. My husband immigrated here at the end of 2009 and we were married in the beginning of 2010. He has his 10 yr green card now. We are VERY happy! We moved from California to Texas, and 3.5 yrs later came back home to California. I still struggle with Dutch, but I am learning little by little. He is fluent, with barely any accent in English, German and of course Dutch. Anyway...welcome! If any of you are in So. Cal., we might be interested in doing some sort of meet up. Just PM me. Doei!

That used to be the case, but I contacted them a few months back to verify it. I got an email back saying that they required a VOG now.

Dear Mr. Buizert:

The Dutch authorities have changed how to process such requests.

We US CONSULATE GENERAL ) are no longer able to request the certificates, and applicants are now required to make the request directly of the Dutch. The new and accurate Dutch police certificate instructions can be found on the following website

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/NL.html#docs

We have attached the Dutch police certificate instructions.

I just called them and they told me there is a english summary on there. So never mind its all good.

Maybe we should update the Embassy info section with this info.

True, there is a small section at the bottom with an English translation. But they also accept Dutch anyway, so it's good either way :)

They used to, but now they make you arrange it yourself :) And I think the documents can be in both English or Dutch because my consulate package mentions this:

- TRANSLATIONS: All documents not in English or in Dutch, must be accompanied by a certified translation.

Welcome back! Good to hear a nice story with a happy ending :) Dutch is a hard language to learn, but I'm sure you'll be fluent one day!

I don't think you can. When I did my k1 and I knew my interview date. I had to make appointment with the doctor in Amesterdam, and they shedule you a week before the interview. When it's done they send all the information to the consulate. It's easy. So why do it different? lol

I didnt know they shipped it to the consulate thats why I asked. In some countries you have to deliver it yourself. So you can do it ahead of time so that it reduces all the waiting and could speed things up.

But does the consultate make the appointment for you at the doctor or do you have to do that yourself? And same with x-ray? The more i can do ahead of time the better

Posted

No you need to call to make an appointment. After you did the medical exam by the doctor, he will tell you to go the x-ray it's a few streets further. You need to pay with 'cash' they don't take debit cards.
