We just got our Alien registration #. (Is that the same thing as NOA1?) and now we're just waiting. The only maddening thing about this is the fact that I know it could be 3 weeks or 5 months before we get a response. :(

Good luck to all of you and congratulations to those who have gotten their visas! :D

February 15th - sent package to Dallas. Took a long time to get to Dallas because of weather conditions and delays.

March 3rd - NOA1.

March 5th - Received alien registration number.

August 21st- NOA2.
September 8th - NVC received package and assigned case #
September 11th - Embassy received package.
September 16th - Received Packet 3.
September 17th - Sent packet 3 back.
September 23rd - Received packet 4.
October 14th - Medical.
October 21st - Interview. - Interview approved, visa granted!

November 1st - Moving to the U.S.

it's not. the NOA1 is a message that the received your case. The alien registration is just a id number you get during the first stages of the process.

You should get your NOA1 around 5 days after you send your papers in.

Good luck with the process. And please fill your timeline in so others can be helped with that information.

Get the two-ply toilet paper at least. We buy ours at Costco. We have charmin ultra soft atm.

I had the brand with the white puppy (forgot the brand) in the Netherlands and charmin seems to feel the same.

So.... I have this very very important question.

What are some good comparable toilet paper brands to what we have over here in the Netherlands?

I know its silly, butt...

Yeah, I agree with Ralph and Megan, go for at least 2-ply. Unless you like wiping with sand paper. The brand isn't that important, but Charmin is definitely more expensive.

You could try Scott, Angel Soft, Marcal. But a lot of stores have their own cheaper version of the "name brand" stuff, that usually is just as good.

This waiting game! I dont want to wait anymore but only a month has passed sadly.

What did you guys do financially? Did you keep money in your bank accounts? Or took out a larger portion and put it in your bank/wife's/husband's account? I am debating on what to do.

I just got in the usa friday on a k1 visa. I'm going to transfer my money to my (soon) husband/our account in a few weeks/months. And close my accounts in the Netherlands. I asked the lady at my bank what is the best to do and she recommend transfer the money to the usa. I like it more to have my money here with me than overseas, but I guess everyone thinks different about that. Good luck!

We're going to have accounts in both countries, but we own a house in the Netherlands (that we're trying to sell, btw!) so as long as we own that, we have to keep paying for it. It's easier through a Dutch financial institution than an American one.
