Prettige Feestdagen :)

Liefde is een bloem zo teer dat hij knakt bij de minste aanraking en zo sterk dat niets zijn groei in de weg staat

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

.png

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Here a sign of life again. I see that there are some "new" Dutchies on VJ. All Welcome and good luck with your exciting journey! Our journey is almost over. I decided I will apply for citizenship. So the waiting game began again here.

In 2 weeks and 3 days we are flying to the Netherlands to see my family (once a year at least). Our son just turned 2 and now is the right time to see opa and oma again because he started understanding Dutch! He'll answer in American though... ha ha

Who is still in the Netherlands? Maybe we can meet up for a coffee or so. And I can tell you everything about the the nerve wrecking long wait. All the money it'll cost you and maybe also some handy information you could use after you got married on your K1. Send me a pm if you'd like to meet.

Good Luck! I haven't posted to this thread in a long time! We have been very busy! We relocated to Texas, I am working full time and my husband is more or less working out of our home. He does graphic design...and is very good at it! We have a band started...he is also a great guitar player! lol. But, thought I would check in. Nice to see other Dutchy couples making the move and filing! It is a long and sometimes frustrating journey, but SO worth it. My husband and I just have been married just about 18 months,..and it's been wonderful! Well, gotta run...will check back again soon.

Doei!

Hello there,

I recently joined as well.

Story:

Me (Pieter) being the Dutch guy met a lovely American lady (Kirsten) and are engaged since the 6th of August 2011. I just got back from my 3 weeks of being with her and I already see it's going to be a hard time. We wanted to apply for the K1 visa before I went home so we already had all the paperwork filled in but when I got home we decided on her coming to the Netherlands for the time being (if she can manage to set things up for her study her). She tought it would be better for her to come here for the time being since 1: we would be together and we would have plenty of time together, 2: she is about to start a study and isn't really commited to the US right now and I have a steady job, so if she can sort out all of her study stuff then she will be staying with me for about 1,5 years if all goes to our plan. The idea then is to apply for the K1 visa during her stay here so we would be together instead of waiting apart and well I thought that was a great idea off course :D.

Now it's waiting time for me because we haven't set a date yet for her to fly over here. She's waiting till her passport arrives and till she gets her study sorted. Hopefully she is able to sort all within the month. Hopefully.

Question for my fellow Dutchies: How can you get your head to think something different then the one you want to spend the rest of your life with?

Grtz

Pieter

Hey! I'm Brittany, I've got myself a handsome dutchie! woot! :) I'm from Northeast Ohio, we met on tv.com in 2007. Next month we will have been together for four years. I lived with Michiel in Den Haag for 2.5 years. He's originally from Leeuwarden. It's so hard being apart now, after having lived together for so long...we're both just hoping that this process goes as smoothly and as quickly as possible! I do miss The Netherlands, my friends there, Michiel's family, but I'm working full-time now, we are renting a house here now and I'm just busy getting everything set up for when he finally gets to move here for GOOD!!

I'm sure it has to be hard to be away from him now after being together so long. It sounds exciting to live there for a few years. I went visit for about 10 days and I really loved it minus not knowing what anyone was saying :bonk:

When you become an american citizen can you still keep your dutch passport? Just wondering about that!

Also, what is needed for packet 3? I heard that you don't need to pull the police certs. that they do that for you at the interview? If anyone has any pointers, etc. that would be great!!

Well, has been a long time since I last was here, but we're back for now.

Just got my notice that we have to remove conditions. So we are back to the paperwork again.

Britty9, you are right, if Michiel lived in the Netherlands his whole life, then the Embassy will get the police reports themselves.

Man, I just don't check in here enough anymore!

February will be me and my husbands 2nd anniversary. We are both working full time, FINALLY got our horses and goat here to Tx, acquired 2 adorable kitty terrorists and are very happy! Good luck to all of you on your journey. Being apart from each other is very hard and trying. Thank God for modern technology and Skype! But, once your loved one is here, being able to wake up each morning next to them makes it all worth it. We are very lucky that we have really good friends here who have gone through the same journey, Liz and Pat, who started this thread.
