Hello everyone!

I had my visa interview on November 5, 2008 and shortly after that I have received my K1-visa.

However, I do not know anymore if I still want to get married.

What would I have to do with the visa?

Would I have to write a letter to the Consulate stating my reasons for not wanting to marry anymore?

What if I just visited the States in the next few months, would I have to enter with my visa or could I enter as a normal tourist? Would they let me enter as a tourist without my visa papers?

And what if the visa expired and I wanted to visit the States later on? Would I be refused entry or anything like that? Would they not asked me why I did not use the visa?

Thanks in advance. ;)

I dont' think you can enter on your K-1 visa without intent to marry because once you enter you are expected to marry within 90 days. If you don't, aren't you in violation of the terms of your visa? Isn't that visa fraud?

I am not sure but just be careful. What if you wrote a letter to the US embassy and told them?!?!?

Got cold feet? The thought of having gone through such a difficult journey and not going through with the marriage makes me feel sad for you as a couple and for those who are trying so desperately for a visa to be with their loved one and can't get one!! If you have no intention of marrying your fiance then I wouldn't use the K1 visa to get in because you'd be lying to the IO. If you are caught the consequences could be harsh, no, will be harsh. However that is your decision. You have 6 months in which you must enter the US and then you must marry within 90 days upon entering the US. The best of luck and I do hope you work things out with your fiance (F)

Sweet Coria, you can go to the US and meet your bf if you want. But it is all up to you my Dear. You are lucky that you have the visa now a lot of US here are still waiting but atleast you already know about the real situition between u and your fiance. Ihope that YOU WILL DECIDE WISELY.

if you have second thoughts im pretty sure you would not be the first to come, with the intentions to marry, then if you just confirm your feelings within 90 days you just change your mind, it does happen

It is not me who had second thoughts! :(

I really wanted to marry and it was not just for fun I went through this journey.

I went through the interview myself waited for him to call me before to support me. I came back waited for him to ask me how it was but nothing...

I did want to get through it. I REALLY did but now I am not so sure no more because he left me hanging by myself and does not talk to me.

And I am sorry that I might have made you guys wait longer for your visa...:(

Yeah, the reason I am asking what to do with the visa in case I dont marry is because I don't want to lie neither I want to do anything that I am not allowed to.

Would I have to let the US embassy know about it before I go to the US?

I would advise you to send out a formal letter to the USEM in your country expressing your cancellation of the K1 visa.

you applied for that Visa to marry in US.and if you go to US to visit using that Fiance Visa then go back to Germany,

You can have a bad record to apply on your future Visa to United States,, well everything will be up to you!we're just here to give you advise,.

Good luck sweet girl!!!lav yah,

I know I have not decided yet. But I have to decide soon and can't wait 6 months. I have to look for a job or something else I want to do. I do not want to sit at home for six months thinking about whether I want to go there or not and once I have a job it is not that easy to leave...

No, I would not need the fiancé visa to visit the US. However, I need to know what to do with it in case I do not get married in order to not get a bad record.

And no, he did not really talk to me. He only said that he would write me after work but he never did. The next day when I asked he said that his computer did not work...but neither he answered his phone...MY BAD! It might not work anymore either all of a sudden. =S

Like I said, I have not decided yet but I want to make sure that I do not get a bad record or anything else in case I do not use the fiancé visa.

Thanks. :)

well if you decide not to continue it anymore, try to make a letter for the US Embassy there and print all the proofs that you are not the one who make the wrong decision.. try to print everything that you have like emails of you and your Fiance, that email will be good becoz you try to please her and understand him what's on his mind at that time and you give him time but he never answered you and he just saying some excuses, and he is not open to you, I know the embassy will believe you why you want to cancel your Fiance Visa to US..,but think about it first on what you decided to do..

I don't know why that guy do that you, I feel that he don't have a heart and he never cares for the feelings of people that he really hurt too much..

cheer up Friend!!make yourself busy and try to do something that you can forget him! dont care to a man who don't care to your feelings,,thats all I can say and my advise..it will be up to you what you want to do...lav yah

Unless your K1 visa is cancelled or expired, it would be your basis for your next entry to the US. As long as you don't overstay the 90 days allowed, there is no visa fraud for entering without intent to marry. You may or may not change your mind while you're here.

If you want to enter as a tourist for more than 90 days during the time the K1 visa would be valid, I'd get the visa cancelled through the Consulate in Frankfurt.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Good for you Coria. I'm glad to see that you are thinking in the right direction about your future.... you're right, though... there's no point in dragging out the 6 months when it's pretty clear how your fiance is feeling right now.
