I have read that after waiting at least 2 weeks, I can then apply for my SSN: if I apply for it BEFORE we marry, thus applying for it in my maiden name, will I have to then have the name on the card changed and reissued again? Becasue of this would you recommend that I do not file for my SSN until after the wedding when I have my name changed?

It's your choice. I applied for my SSN after I got married but I made it sure that my I-94 was still valid at least before it's 76 days. I had it in my married name. I still have to go back to the office though to apply for another one when I get my EAD so I could work.

You do NOT have to go back when you get EAD (though you could)... You have to go back when you get GREENCARD....
