well this is my situation when i filed my ds230 at NVC i include xerox copy of my passport and it wont expired till sept. 2009 but while waiting for my case to be completed i decide to renew it for a new readable machine passport even if it wont expired till sep 2009..so when i went to my medical i already submitted my newly renewed passport thats where my visa printed but the passport number is my old passport...so what i have to do now? any number to call at us embassy manila for immigrant visa?

the passport numbers should be the same on both passports.

yeah there's a number to contact the US embassy immigrant visa section... But they seem mean to filipino citizens. That number is for US citizens. But you can try to call if you want to. The number is (02)-301-2000 local 5185. Look for lorraine or grace. Lorraine is really helpful but my hubby said that Grace was pretty rude. Keep trying to contact that local number because it takes awhile. Just keep trying.

yeah i think so... try calling the the place where you renewed your passport. because my friend renewed her passport recently before she came here to the states. What she did was attach her old passport with the valid US visa in it to her new machine readable passport.

Ate Joan is this you? This is van from cdo... TRY TO CALL THE USEM TO SOLVE THE PROBS YOU GOT. CONGRATS!

She already renew her passport so She cannot use the old one now. SHE MUST USE THE NEW ONE.

the way I read the post..the visa is already placed in the new one. The old passport should no longer be valid (did they cut the corner of it or drill holes or mark it as cancelled/invalid). What exactly are you worried about...the paperwork not matching the new passport number? I don't see a problem as the visa is in the "correct" passport....wouldn't hurt to carry both together when travelling.

VISA ON EXPIRED PASSPORT

Holders of valid visas in expired passports need not apply for a new visa. US visas are valid through the expiry date printed on the visa regardless of the passport's expiry date. Simply travel with both passports when entering the United States.
