If Republicans were smart, they'd give homosexuals all the same rights as heterosexuals. They'd gain numerous supporters and the Democrats would have one less weapon to use.

Republicans ARE smart - its just that the country is so divided along ideological lines that they shackled to their electoral base. I guess what they need is someone to come along and redefine their focus for the 21st century much as Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan did.

Of course religious conservatives are still a potent force - so it remains to be seen what can really be done there.

According to the CNN Exit Poll on Prop 8 in Kali, the only age group that did not support Prop 8 (i.e. defended gay marriage rights) was 18-29. Respondents aged 30 and above voted for Prop 8 (i.e. against gay marriage rights).

If you're waiting for all the 30 year olds to die out, you're in for a long wait.

That's because 18-29-year-olds are idiots and voted FOR Prop 8, instead of AGAINST it,

thinking they were voting for gay marriage.

Christian zealots continue to muddy the waters in this debate: they MUST insist (contrary to all scientific evidence) that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice, otherwise they are faced with the dilemna of God condemning something he has created.

It's really as simple as that.

And, btw, my best friend was raised by a gay father. Now only is he decidedly NOT gay, he also happens to be the most financially successful person I know.
