A Florida circuit judge Tuesday struck down a 31-year-old state law that prevents gays and lesbians from adopting children.

...

"There is no question, the blanket exclusion of gay applicants defeats Florida's goal of providing dependent children a permanent family through adoption," Judge Cindy S. Lederman wrote in her 53-page ruling.

"The best interests of children are not preserved by prohibiting homosexual adoption."

...

She said there is no moral or scientific reason for banning gays and lesbians from adopting.

Why? Oh, let's fly in the face of scientific evidence, in favour of bigoted, emotive opinion based on some outmoded view of what 'god' thinks about gays. Seriously, I don't give a flying fart what anyone thinks of gay people in the privacy of their own home, the dinasaurs will soon be dead, but to disrupt the normal lives of gay people because of these nonsensical opinions has gone on quite long enough.

This is not about the highlighted, it's about raising children. Get a clue, Cleo.

Um, maybe you need to re read my post. I said, I doing give a flying fart what the 'bigots' think about gays in the privacy of their own homes, these bigots are dinasaurs and a dying breed (hurrah!) but people like that have been given free rein to meddle in the affairs of the normal lives of gay people for far too long. Enough is enough, and science and logic backs up the notion that being a gay parent has absolutely no negative effect on children. Logic and reason will prevail, eventually.

bigots in the privacy of their own home, not gays. Brother, you have to hold the hands of some people.

Thank you A.J, that picture is most apropos.

Interestingly, if there were enough hetrosexual couples to meet the demand, it's unlikely that 'gays' would have had a look in, oh me, oh my!

Well, since I began my illustrious career in Social Services five months ago, any opinions I may have had about the sanctity of the 'typical' male/female parental model has gone out the window.

There's a whole lot of child beating and molestation that goes in in 'normal' nuclear families. A LOT.

If a male/male or female/female household can provide a safe, loving environment - that's more important IMO than holding onto what's supposed to be traditionally 'best'.

Madame,

According to the CNN Exit Poll on Prop 8 in Kali, the only age group that did not support Prop 8 (i.e. defended gay marriage rights) was 18-29. Respondents aged 30 and above voted for Prop 8 (i.e. against gay marriage rights).

If you're waiting for all the 30 year olds to die out, you're in for a long wait.
