P.S I still like money. :D

Liefde is een bloem zo teer dat hij knakt bij de minste aanraking en zo sterk dat niets zijn groei in de weg staat

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Well, of course you do. Who doesn't?

I think your story is a good one and an example of how people can pull themselves up to a brighter future if they so desire.

Thanks, RJ. :)

I was up in WV a couple of weeks ago-----brrrrrrrrrr----it snowed! Not so used to that, living in TX now. :)

Shele, get on yah!

OK!

If I had the money, I'd open a bike shop here in my town. I wouldn't get rich, but if I were diverse enough in what I sold, I could probably get by. But I don't have the money to start up. Nor do I have access to enough money to start up. As I said before, it takes money to make money.

I suppose I could invest $50/month in something or other, and in 30 years I'd have enough to start that bike shop. At age 70.

Or you could apply for a small business loan, like everybody else.

The key to wealth = OPM: Other People's Money. It's what everyone, even rich people, use in financial dealings.

I'd like to discuss money...I have a little today...I feel better now

showoff! :P

Yeah let me show off my pocket that is full of $1s and change...are you impressed?

You're a trust fund baby, too. We don't need cash, just a Black Amex card or two :P

I work hard, struggled through college and then 2 years extra ( mathematics), I reap what I work for, and funnily enough I like what I am paid to do-and I like the $$$ that goes with it and I don't do it at the expense of more important stuff.

I still like money.

What do you do?

Hey GG-How ya doing?

I am a meteorologist.

It has NOT been easy for me. I am US by birth, but grew up in the UK. When I left school there, I worked for the Post Office ( from being 16 to 21). Then I decided "hey, I am American; nothing to lose", so I moved to the USA with NOTHING but a suitcase and I spent my last $ in Chicago airport on a cup of coffee.

My Dad although I know he loves me is not a believer in "hand outs" and my first job here was a melon ball [i didn't know ####### a melonball was] maker in a supermarket for $4.50 an hour to pay for a car ( it was a POS).

Figuring there must be better oppertunities- I started college classes, one at a time.

I joined the USAF. I was retired from the USAF, and used the GI Bill and all resources to improve my quals, despite terrible injuries that I chose not to discuss as that is not relevant to this.

Look, I STILL believe that the USA is one of the only countries that with the right motivation and entrepreneur attitude and need to improve, YOU CAN! I do believe that.

I think that the "hunger " or "need" or "greed" or just pure will power to improve situation can be used here in America. Am I in clown cuckoo land thinking this?-sometimes I wonder as we seem to have developed an apathetic attitude here in America-where is the drive?, but I look at myself and think "Yes YOU can too". And I am not an Obama supporter!

There is much much more to my story, but that's the meat and potatos basically. I hauled up from NOTHING, overcame extreme personal odds, owning nothing but a toothbrush and a lousey cup of coffee in Chicago. Honestly. :)

:D I wuv you :luv:

This is America! People can achieve here if they don't fall back on excuses! Immigrants do it every day, Americans have no reason not to, if they focus on a goal and don't look to the government to do it all for them. Don't listen to naysayers!

As much as I fly a black card would be worth the $2500/yr fee...the upgrades alone would pay for the fee :P Sadly, I only have a platinum card...I need to increase my purchasing power and pray for an upgrade invitation

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

YES!

The only thing I was "entitled" to on coming here was my SSN-that's it. But that SSN opened the door to my melonball making job, which gave me money for a car, then alittle bit for CC courses, so on and so on.........

I hate the whole people waiting for the Govt to 'do something'. Hate it with a passion, because as we all know, you can be drowning on a rooftop before the Govt will even think about saving YOUR ###.....and the reason is that it's YOUR ### to save.

 an excellent example of someone with ambition who makes things happen rather than stand around waiting for the government to help.

He has a point though, the quest for money, for the sake of having 'more' of it, without any thought for the type of life one is leading is pretty pointless - and will not lead to any degree of inner happiness.

True...you can't buy true happiness, but you can rent something that is pretty darned close to it with enough greenbacks. ;)

And if you can't be happy, at least your misery is bearable with enough green stuff!

I like money.

don't we all....

I hate money.

The quest for it takes away our lives and the possession of it takes away our souls.

I hocked my soul. I need some major cash to buy it back. Please don't judge.

Cool, so what do I win?

It better be money.

The old movie gold package on cable.
