Hi! I need help with my petition for my natural father who is now in the Philippines. My natural mother filed a divorce for my natural father here in the US(fathers in the PI) before I was 18 and then she married again. My stepfather, who's a US citizen petitioned me to come here in the US. I am not adopted since my last name did not change at all. I am now a US citizen and over 21 years of age. I filed for I-130 for my natural father 2 months ago. I am just wondering if my petition for my natural father will be affected since I got here in the US from my stepfather?

If you are an adult american citizen you can bring whoever you want who is related to you directly (blood) or fiance(é) or husband.

not the OP's situation but adoption will "break" the bloodline

thanks for the replies. i am just worried the USCIS or NVC might look into those aspects and my petition for my father will be denied. Does anybody know how long will it take to get my father's visa?

Why? As long as you qualify and he qualifies and you provide the proper documentation... it is not like a marriage visa...

YMMV

Do know that petitions for parents take a long time. Best of luck in your journey.

What makes you say that? Why would it take any longer than bringing a spouse with a CR1/IR1? They are the same priority.

A petition for a parent will take the same time as a CR1 or IR1, Look into the timeline for people who are going through the same embassy as your Father will and you should get a good idea of how long it will take. The visa he will come on will be a IR5 visa and he will get a greencard on arrival in the US. Check into the cost of Health Insurance for him as it is very expensive for over 65's and he wont get Medicare.

I am not worried about medical insurance. my husband is an active military servicemember and we can just add my father as a dependent and he will be covered with everything (medical and dental). and my father is not over 65 yet. ;). thanks though.

It will only take 6months to 1 year to petition your father. He is your IR so,there is no visa waiting for him.
