OOOOH last night I bought an organic, free-range, pre-brined turkey from Trader Joe's.

Going to stuff it with southern type stuffing (my mom's recipe) Half cornbread half regular bread and veggies/nuts.

Then I'm making homemade rolls.

Green beans sauteed with onions, cream, and with slivered almonds

mixed root mash (potato, carrot, turnip, sweet potato, or whatever i pick)

gravy

cranberry sauce

and homemade pecan pie!

Nothing too out of the ordinary. Just yummy homemade stuff! There's only a few of us so I can't go all out and make too many things.

What about you? Are you cooking?!

Yes, my father and I are cooking! :P Letting my MIL rest and enjoy her first Thanksgiving! She of course will insist on helping I'm sure! :P

Turkey and my fathers "secret" recipe stuffing...Always to die for and we typically fight for the left overs! :P We will have traditional foods too! Mash, gravy, homemade mac n cheese, cranberry, and I'm thinking to try my hand at a homemade carmel apple pie (or run out to Costco! LOL) depends on my time tomorrow. My friend from work is bringing his famous meatballs (OMG SOOO GOOD)...He serves them as an appetizer in a crock pot...on the sweeter side (the sauce) sooo yummy!

We have a small group at first but as the night goes on we have our dessert party...so I think everyone around after their dinners w/ family will stop by for drinks and dessert. So I'm still thinking to do that hot chocolate bar you mentioned!

:star: Fire pit and torches will be lit up and of course, sheesha flowing! :P:dance:

On a funny note...my friend from work that is coming is gay and my MIL is here now. So my friend, hubby and I decided to see if she has "Gaydar" and can figure it out. :P Should be hella funny! He's such a doll baby I'm sure she will know just by his over the top personality and affectionate spirit! (F)

I just had a family member (cousin) send me a nasty and insulting email. I'm so shocked and it seriously came out of nowhere. All I did was invite him to Thanksgiving and he just completely went off about how much he dislikes the family and apparently me too. We were always so close...I have NO clue where this came from. Now I'm sitting here stunned and crying like a doof at work.... :(

There's my personal bit for ya.

I am so sorry Star :(

But on a cheerier note Annie and I can come and eat you out of house and home for Thanksgiving if you want

I'm all over that! :P

HUGS honey! (F)

I know that was for Nawal but my sister is cooking and every freakin' year not only is her turkey dry as dust but there's no leftovers for turkey sammies with Hellmans (sorry miracle whip peeps) before bed. Luckily my hubby gets a free turkey from work today so I plan on making a mini turkey dinner on Friday and giving the leftovers to the rest of the family. I'm also making this yummy gingerbread trifle that is so easy and good:

trifle_s4x3_lg.jpg

Pumpkin Gingerbread TriflePrep Time: 30 min Inactive Prep Time: 9 hr 0 min Cook Time: 30 min Level:

Easy Serves:

20 servings 2 (14-ounce) packages gingerbread mix

1 (5.1-ounce) box cook-and-serve vanilla pudding mix

1 (30-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon

1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping

1/2 cup gingersnaps, optional

Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl.

Good Afternoon!

Somebody hide that dessert. I'm salivating pretty bad.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

:bonk: not till Thursday!!!! Between my kids and my husband I have a feeling someone's gonna sneak some! It's a hit every year and like I said super easy to make. The hard part is transporting it via the car.

Carmen I'm so sorry but families go through that all the time. Best to leave well enough alone and let it all fall out where it may. I was home the other day watching the Bonnie Hunt show and she had the funniest things you don't want to hear on Thanksgiving! I forget a lot of them but here's a sample:

"What's THAT supposed to mean?"

"Why aren't you married?"

"Don't you want to move back here to be with us?"

"Sure I"ll have a little of that champagne!" (said your uncle who's been sober for 10 yrs)

Thanks, ladies

I guess its better to have the drama BEFORE Thanksgiving and not AT Thanksgiving. :innocent:

Now other family members are saying "oh he's just upset...its not with you...blah blah blah." Screw that. I'm not a punching bag. Just because he has a big ol chip on his shoulder

Happy Tuesday! I'm solo for Thanksgiving. Badr is in Kansas and my family took my daughter up to Reno so she could play with her cousins. So I'm gonna do some Christmas shopping on both days and get it all done.

www.bfads.net - I'm addicted! 3 years ago I got a free computer from Circuit City. I had to stand in line from 1am on but it was worth it!:dance: Just a word to the wise though......some of the rebate companies are going out of business so try not to get the deals where a rebate is concerned unless you're 100% certain that the place you got it from is not going belly up.

YUM your menu sounds great! We usually make make and cheese too but there just isn't enough people to warrant it. (damn) You should totally make the pie if you have time between entertaining and the babies! It would blow Costco's away...although Costco's pies are so huge and cheap! LOL

The dessert party sounds fun...fire torches and sheesha included! I wish I was closer and I would pop over and bring some desserts!

My friend is in town from the UK DJing at a club in Los Angeles so I'm probably going to go up there and dance the night away after. So I'd better not stuff my face before hand!

Bridget: that trifle looks yummy too! And easy with all that premade stuff! Good idea making your own turkey. I like making the dinner versus being a guest because you get the leftovers! heeh
