After TWO trips to the US Embassy today (of which more later), I finally got my K-3 approved!

That's seven months altogether, not bad considering the f'ups along the way. I'll post a full report later, but for now I just wanted to say thanks to all the people that helped me with questions etc. I have no idea how the hell I could have found my way through the K3 process without the assistance of some of the fine folks here.

Michael (London, UK) and Jennifer (CA, USA)

29/11/04 - Michael visits California

19/1/06 - Receive Packet 4. Interview set for February 9th. Michael seen performing lewd dance moves in his bedroom by shocked neighbours

9/2/06 - Interview. Michael charms his way through the US Embassy in record time...then has to go back after they forget to take his receipt for the fee. Still...VICTORY

23/2/06 - Michael arives at LAX, babbles nonsense at customs officers. Eyebrows are raised

My interview experience.

And seeing as that's pretty heavy on the creative side of things, I thought I'd just explain about the 'two trip' thing. When I went first time, I got through the whole process without giving them the red receipt for the £63 payment. Being a little distracted at the time (as I'm sure anyone who has been through the interview experience will understand), I didn't even notice. So I finished up, got approved, and went home floating on a cloud. Soon as I get through the door, my phone rings and it's the embassy saying they haven't got the receipt and can't process the visa without it. So I go all the way back (a two hour journey) just to hand this tiny slip of paper to a security guard.

Symptomatic of the whole process as far as I've experienced it, by the way. Stupid little mistakes every step of the way. Thank Christ it's over.
